The right wing wants the torture story to "go away"
It doesn't "go away". Pornographic style pictures of attrocities, rape and murder are something are you branded with for the rest of your life. We're stuck with the things around our neck.

The US is like that convicted child rapist who they let back out into the neighborhood. Right wingers are going to have to own up to that uncomfortable fact.

1. Only one problem...
They won't own up.

They never do.

It they DID, they wouldn't be right-wingers.

4. Then they are traitors too. The whole lot of them.
I've made 4 posts in a row about how our uncivilized unevolved idiots in uniform have put themselves into greater jeopardy and how their actions have hurt the US considerably. They are traitors.

Instead of doing the right thing, the repukes and those in charge (also repukes) and the DINOs are doing nothing to RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. Even Bush* praises Rumsfeld. This is bizarroworld after all, where whistleblowers aren't praised and wrongdoers ARE.

What has happened has got to be the worst thing ever in US history and its implications and repercussions are far reaching. Yet the repukes want it buried because it might affect them in the election. What about ethics and morality? These fuckers (forget the coy witticism "freedomers") need to get out of power NOW. They're throwing America into chaos, if not the whole world - who'll eventually see the US as "the new evil", "the fourth reich", or whatever. That may be tinfoilhat material, but if that's what happens then it's going to be armageddon.

5. Read the article on Bush's "preparations" for tomorrow's speech...
I just posted this thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x1650354

In the article I reference, it's all "stay the course" and "freedom-loving Iraqi people" and "don't focus on the BAD things that have happened...think of how GOOD post-war Iraq will be for the Iraqi people"...

In the last week we've heard it from Rumsfeld, and tomorrow we will hear it from Bush...if y'all keep focusing on this bad news, you'll slow down our progress, demoralize our troops and put them in harm's way, and keep the freedom-lovin', democracy-craving Iraqi people from their greatest dream of all...re-electing George Bush in November.

It's sick, sick, sick, stuff...Rove and Hughes are in full overdrive on this one.

6. Then is Bush going to stop focusing on the BAD regarding Kerry?
How about marriage?
How about the deficit?
How about Every Child Left Behind?
How about gas prices?
How about inflation?
How about crime being up?
How about unemployment?
How about outing a CIA operative?
How about 9/11? Especially 9/11...no more using 9/11 in his commercial and focusing on the bad!
How about corporate corruption?
How about jobs going overseas?
How about not allowing Cubans to see their families?
How about the cost of prescription drugs out of control?
How about social security funds being depleted?
How about abuse not being called torture?
How about a voting system that isn't trusted?
How about appointing judges in the shadows?
How about testifying with Chenney?
How about the fact that you stonewalled the 9/11 commission and then to boost ratings, agreed to meet with them?
How about Bush's outright lies regarding Kerry's voting record?
How about his environment record and global warming?
How about banning stem cell research?
How about taping into the Democrats computers?
How about not telling Americans who was on Chenneys secret energy board?
How about the assault on gay families and gay people?
How about the deaths of so many people?
How about using tax money for propaganda to promote a bogus Medicare bill?
How about the racist and homophobic comments?
How about the immature and insensitive joke about WMD?

Have I missed anything? Because God knows, we must stop focusing on the bad news because we're not patriotic if we do...although, that's the EXACT meaning of patriotism. We'll move on when we have closure on the things I've mentioned above, this is by far the WORST most egregious administration in America's history.

7. To quote Sean Hannity...
"...don't you know that by saying that you are going to hurt the president? Answer my question! Don't you know...don't you know...answer my question! Don't you know that making remarks like that is going to damage the president and put our troops in harm's way?"

 :toast:

Great list, great post. I imagine the "conservative media" will be doing much wailing and gnashing of teeth this week when the public (and specifically the "international community") refuses to lock-step behind the Commisar's latest battle cry.

12. My response to Hannity: What's wrong with trying to "damage" idiot boy?
Edited on Sun May-23-04 11:07 AM by TankLV
He is not "america" - in fact, damaging the pResident, and doing everything in our power to remove him from power, would be good for the country and the world!

9. The reason it won't is naked bodies, sex and torture
Murkins just love to freak out about nakedness, sex and torture.

Hell a simple blowjob between consenting adults almost got the last guy fucking impeached.

10. Yes, and I find it surprising that some of the same people
Who express shock and outrage at Clinton for having a tawdry little extra-marital affair with a woman in the oval office are stil supporting this administration and pronouncing Bush a 'godly man.'

Boy. Howdy. You gotta wonder what kind of a moral yardstick they're using.

11. Actually, Clinton WAS impeached . . . .
President Clinton Impeached

Behind a backdrop unique in historical terms, on Saturday 19 December 1998, President William Jefferson Clinton was impeached by the United States House of Representatives, becoming only the second President in U.S. History, and the only man popularly elected as President to have been so charged.

13. You're right
I keep thinking "impeached" means "convicted" but "impeached" is the equivalent of "indicted".

He was impeached but not convicted and removed.

Point still stands

14. We need to go with their past meme "What is this teaching the Children"
Remember during the Clinton impeachment hearings all we heard from the right "What will we tell the children?" "What sort of message does this send the children?" "It was because of Clinton that our children learned about oral sex." Well now our children are learning to torture people and the right is saying "Hey it's only as bad as hazing." Our kids are being taught hatred and that ignorance is OK, you only need mediocre grades and you can become president. "What is this Administration teaching our children?" I don't like it. I don't want my kids learning that torturing another being is even in the slightest an OK thing. We need to use that as a comeback to them. "You would tell the children that this is approved behavior?" God I despise the Hard right hatemongers. They are destroying America.
