I wasn't sure, but now I am...
When the presidential race started I seriously started considering moving to Canada. I was afraid * was going to win again, then I started seeing and hearing stuff but I didn't want to get my hopes up.

Today I couldn't help but have a smile on face and for the first time since * was sElected and relaize that we might have a chance to restore Democracy to America...here's why:

~Most of the co-workers at my partner's job are STAUNCH Republicans. They are ideologues - have voted that way all their lives. Lately they have been telling him that they are ashamed they voted for Shrub and they vow they will not do it again.

~I keep seeing all of these really neat and ingenious bumber stickers: "Vote the 'Son-of-a-BUSH' out of office" & then today "Bush/Cheney 1984:War for Peace."

~Then Firday at work a friend of mine who does not have a political bone in her body and hasn't voted since Carter stated that she read some stuff about what Shrub would do during a second term and it scared her. She went out and registered "and if I could have registered by 5 and 9 year old I would have!"

I just have a feeling more is going on then what we see and hear. He won't make it another term, not with this many people pissed.

Oh and as far as this "economic recover"...my job (a government position) announced at least 60 layoffs in July. Hmmmm

1. I think if Diebold isn't a factor, we'll win this election.
I've looked seriously at properties in Canada myself ;)

7. Exactly!
THAT is what we really, really need to be concerned about. I don't trust those damned machines and the people in control of them as far as I can throw them.

And now computer experts are coming out and saying that the machines are horrendously unreliable and should NOT be used for a presidential election. It doesn't matter how many people vote against the Bushistas if the machines are rigged in their favor.

Just keep a close eye on Stephen Harper if you do come up.

5. Comparison shopping windpants
We have to be ready in case Diebold manages to pull off a fast one, and well protected from those Canadian winters.

9. The winters aren't as bad as you might think.
They just last about 4-6 weeks too long (at the end). The only down side is that there is really no Spring as such, Winter just sort of rapidly morphs into Summer, which is too bad since Spring is my favorite season. But on the upside, the Fall is magnificent.

If you're really thinking about the move, just look for the label that says "Thinsulate" on every article of Winter gear you intend to buy. Oh, and if oil prices continue to rise, maybe you'd rather look toward the other border.

4. There's a lot of unhappiness here in central IL, too.
I know lifelong, staunch Republicans who have said categorically that they will not vote for him again.

6. When Rick LAZIO Fell on His Face in a Parade Campaigning
I took it as a sign he was also figuratively falling on his face, and that Hillary would win. Today Shrub fell on his face (again). Works for me.

Btw, nobody should leave. We need everybody here.

8. I'm beginning to feel that too.
I think that a lot of people were fooled by Bush and that's why it's taken so long to show up in the polls. People don't want to admit that they misjudged someone so badly. In a way maybe that Kerry voted for Iraq and was fooled has let some feel that it wasn't just them and that they were lied to. I still feel cautious though. We are dealing with a group of radicals that will stop at nothing.

12. I went to a dinner this week and sat with five strangers and while
in the past no one would have brought up politics not knowing if their words would rub someone the wrong way when everyone present had a common interest other than politics...all hell broke loose for the entire meal - all were anti-administration and no one would stop telling their stories and venting their disgust.
