"Massive database" recommended for DRAFT. Up to Age 34, Women too!!
This is real, folks. They are working hard at SSS right now to design the procedures to start registering everyone with "critical skills" under the AGE OF 35, male or FEMALE.!

Selective Service eyes women for draft

By ERIC ROSENBERG

Hearst Newspapers

WASHINGTON —

The Selective Service System plan, obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, highlights the extent to which agency officials have planned for an expanded military draft in case the administration and Congress would authorize one in the future.

“In line with today’s needs, the Selective Service System’s structure, programs and activities should be re-engineered toward maintaining a national inventory of American men and, for the first time, women, ages 18 through 34, with an added focus on identifying individuals with critical skills,” the agency said in a Feb. 11, 2003, proposal presented to senior Pentagon officials.

Under the proposal, the Selective Service System, the independent federal agency that would organize any conscription, also recommended creation of a massive database to keep track of draft registrants with “one or more skills critical to national security or community health and safety.”

Some of the skill areas where the armed forces are facing “critical shortages” include linguists and computer specialists, the agency said. Americans would then be required to regularly update the agency on their skills until they reach age 35.

Wish we could get a copy of those 6 pages!

Is anybody under 35 out there, male or female, with a critical skill occupation? If you know anybody like that let them know this is real or if anyone in your family or friends has someone that could be drafted they should know about this secret proposal for the 2005 DRAFT.

By the way, they will keep track of ALL your skills. Some could be drafted one of several ways!

BUSH '04 = DRAFT '05

KERRY HAS A NO-DRAFT PLAN AND IS OPPOSED TO ANY DRAFT.

1. When they start calling up...

...40 year-old asthmatic women, I'll know we're in trouble. Until then, I'm still exempt, thank goddess.

3. There's no more Canada by the way
You have to tell them the truth when you arrive in Canada, or they will deport you back later. Plus the US signed the "Smart Border Declaration" with them and has pre-clearance that can be instituted if a DRAFT is reauthorized.

5. I'm old as dirt
..and have a disease which is going to kill me within a very few years. However, I'm a nurse, and they send me recruitment BS every damn month.

Drafting women in this age range is just plain stupid: stupid for the women, stupid for their children, stupid for the country, and stupid for the military. They're extending the draft to women so they can grab NURSES, folks, already in critically short supply in the hospitals.

There are no plans to take care of the children women 18-34 are likely to have, no plans to address the very real threat of rape that female soldiers face from their male colleagues (much higher than injury from an enemy), and no plans to staff nursing homes and hospitals when fascist warfare depletes the already shortstaffed wards. I guess the rest of us have to choose not to get sick.

If the military wants nurses so badly, or people in any other field, why the HELL don't they offer educaton in these fields followed by a period of mandatory service?

Oh, I know. That might make sense.

2. How would a Draft affect those who've already done their time
in the military - as my two sons have? Would they get called up again anyway?

4. If they are still in the Ready Reserve, they might get their recall soon
Edited on Sat May-22-04 09:12 AM by Dems Will Win
There are a couple of hundred thousand discharged but still eligible. The SSS is currently asking the IRS to help them track down 50,000 of them -- they lost their addresses!

When did they leave the Army or Reserves?
