How is that, you might ask? He's going to be taking votes from Kerry - not Bush? So how would he stick it to the Repubs?
No doubt, there is nothing Bush and the Repubs love more than another Nader run. But they think he is going all the way to the end. I doubt it very much. We may be able to interpret his intentions somewhat by the prononcements of John Kerry after they meet today.
Third Party politicians have been with us for a long time. They can take votes from one candidate and they may tear down the other with their message. Nader has had nothing good to say about Bush that I have heard? But his is an extra voice out there that the corporate media will advertise, when they will not show John Kerry. That is the nature of the corporate media. Nader can help Kerry in this respect.
Another way Nader "may" help Kerry is that the Repubs will attempt to promote him in the shadows. They want him to run. He hurts Kerry. That they know. Encourage it but not too publically. But if Nader drops out late in the race and throws his support to Kerry, the Repubs will not have time to regenerate another 3rd Party campaign. If that were to happen, Nader would be an ally of Kerry and Kerry would be he beneficiary of Nader's campaign.
But, the bottom line is that we do not know what Naders intentions are at this time. We know what it appears to be. But Nader is no fool. In fact, he has been very brilliant almost all of his public life. We will see what Kerry says about his meeting and perhaps get an idea of what direction Nader is going with his campaign. I cannot believe he would do anything to help Bush win in November, this time around. I realize this is all convoluted and Nader may be running just to help Bush win? I doubt that.
