Awesome graphic on Bush's poll ratings!
I play EverQuest, and our server board is pretty political. A guy posted a graphic to show how Bush's approval ratings have been sinking, and then another guy modified it...and it's hilarious enough that I feel obligated to post it. Credit to Jing of Silent Tempest on the Drinal Server for this master piece.

4. Very fitting--The Titanic is the metaphor for great disasters--
man-made ones, of course. And supposedly Dumbo is man-made, although some might argue he isn't since he's the spawn of Satan!

25. Whatever came of Tufte vs. Byrne?
I remember reading that Edward Tufte and David Byrne got into some heated debate about PowerPoint: good or evil?

I guess David Byrne went and had some fun with PowerPoint as an artistic medium. I never saw the work, but I wonder if it was a la "Get Your War On," with lots of goofy stock clipart?

Anyway, Tufte despises PowerPoint, and his disciples were all up in arms about Byrne's work.

Anyone hear about this?

27. Yeah I saw something in Wired about it
I thought it was more just dueling essays, all in good fun. I got to rder 2 of Tufte's books on the company dime recently really enjoying them.
Funny little catalog-flyer comes with the books, advetising other books, posters, and a $150,000 sculpture. I always wonder if anyone has ever ordered the sculpture from the flyer.

29. No, and Tufte didn't mention it
last month when I saw him at an intimate gathering of only 1,000 people or so. Yes, he hates dumbed down presentation graphics like Powerpoint. Hey, he's my hero - by attending his presentation and gushing about it when I got back I finally was able to convince my boss to spring for Illustrator.

just found this:

11. Pretty cool, but needs updating.
It looks like the original graphic may have come from Professor Pollkatz which has not been updated since March. Radiofreemonkey has current poll results reflected in the charts found there. http://www.radiofreemonkey.com:8080/charts/

14. Suddenly, the captain's eyes flew WIDE OPEN!
And he put both hands on the wheel
And he looked at the iceberg
And he said "I'M GONNA MOVE YOU BABY!"
