11. These were different people from the first time
They seemed to be all over the room. The crowd was mostly standing and cheering...they turned the lights down, I guess so the cameras wouldn't pick it up. The reporters were scrambling to take pics of the protesters when CNN broke to Darryn Kegal who did some happy talk and broke to a DrugCO commercial or something.

They were in the middle of kissing Rudy's ass and calling him a "great leader" when the woman starting shouting "3000 people are dead! That is not great leadership!"
It was classic. As was CNN's cutting away when the only real news of the day broke!

46. That would be standard practice for either Soviet Pravda or CNN
They are damned closer to being the same thing (CNN has better production values & is more subtle, of course) than anytime I can ever remember.

But as Pravda, CNN's duty is not to bring you the news, but to shield you from "unsettling news".

Unsettling as determined by Imperial Representatives that both overtly and covertly parasitize all media outlets (or at least all the big ones) for their Bushevik Masters.

CNN did the right thing, given what it is they are...Pravda.

27. I can't keep up!! 9/11 hearings! Generals calling each other liars...
by inference during the Abu Gharib hearings. They may as well say that Mugaba's report is false. Nobody taking responsibility, everyone saying they knew nothing about the abuses. It's all so maddening. Each hearing has been 'explosive.' so much going on who can keep up?
Our nation is almost in utter chaos but like Steppard wives we don't recognize it.

Who told Giuliani to evacuate WTC7 when
FDNY transcripts show fire was manageable
from 78th floor?

Never before had a skyscraper fallen due to fire
before 911. Moreover, it is a well-known fact that fire has
never caused any steel framed highrise building to collapse
in any manner, let alone with the vertical precision of Building
7's destruction. 1

On 911 3 fell.

when skyscrapers start falling over sideways, or worse, UP, then i'll really start worrying.no i don't believe the official story, but there is nothing unusual about buildings falling DOWN.

18. Guiliani had a "bunker" in WTC7 full of fuel storage
This was a "command and control" center for the city that Guiliani put into WTC7 (instead of City Hall of Police Station), breaking all sorts of safety and environmental rules to keep fuel there. That's how WTC7 caught on fire, supposedly.

That it no longer is a viable news organization. Amateurs on the net, unafraid to tackle and promulgate real facts and counter opinions have so far surpassed the "pros" that it is only their hogging of certain forums and dogged ignoring of facts(shooting themselves in the foot out of fear) that maintains a fake credibility for a shrinking set of believers.

The entire concept of news is shifting away from those who seek to profit from its control. They cling to the power of TV radio and newspaper like the US clings to nukes, but they do not dare really use them because that would unleash more change they find frightening.

We are seeing a period of decline and decadence, typically baroque for people enjoying the opulent twilight of collapse when glamor covers over
the true nature of things, when the whole justification for their dominance has passed into mere money gorging. It looks powerful, rich with occasional flashes of brilliance and rebellion, but in general it is on the way down and has lost its vigor, its rationale and its soul.

Small wonder that tabloid demagoguery, corruption, tyranny, propaganda, and pure infotainment incompetence of low quality is how they fill the growing void.

WE fill the void by fashioning together new, crude structures to the news and the truth in the same way Romanesque amateurs forcing their way out of the Dark Ages cannibalized and reconstructed architecture itself from the ruins of deceased Rome- not understanding, not professional, making mistakes, but building a real future nonetheless.

Democracy, where the opinions of people other than the media and/or the government actually mean something.
That part of democracy must be too much of an embarrassment to be shown to the public. Heaven forbid that a trend of people speaking out starts in this country.

32. PENTAGON IN CNN NEWSROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://www.fair.org/activism/osi-propaganda.html

Pentagon Propaganda Plan Is Undemocratic, Possibly Illegal
February 19, 2002

The New York Times reported today that the Pentagon’s Office of Strategic Influence is “developing plans to provide news items, possibly even false ones, to foreign media organizations” in an effort “to influence public sentiment and policy makers in both friendly and unfriendly countries.”
The OSI was created shortly after September 11 to publicize the U.S. government’s perspective in Islamic countries and to generate support for the U.S.’s “war on terror.” This latest announcement raises grave concerns that far from being an honest effort to explain U.S. policy, the OSI may be a profoundly undemocratic program devoted to spreading disinformation and misleading the public, both at home and abroad. At the same time, involving reporters in Pentagon disinformation puts the lives of working journalists at risk. .......

snip
According to the New York Times, “one of the military units assigned to carry out the policies of the Office of Strategic Influence” is the U.S. Army’s Psychological Operations Command (PSYOPS). The Times doesn’t mention, however, that PSYOPS has been accused of operating domestically as recently as the Kosovo war.

In February 2000, reports in Dutch and French newspapers revealed that several officers from the 4th PSYOPS Group had worked in the news division at CNN's Atlanta headquarters as part of an “internship” program starting in the final days of the Kosovo War. Coverage of this disturbing story was scarce (see FAIR’s “Why Were Government Propaganda Experts Working on News at CNN? <http://www.fair.org/activism/cnn-psyops.html>” 3/27/00), but after FAIR issued an Action Alert on the story, CNN stated that it had already terminated the program and acknowledged that it was “inappropriate.”
Even if the PSYOPS officers working in the newsroom did not directly influence news reporting, the question remains of whether CNN may have allowed the military to conduct an intelligence-gathering mission against the network itself. The idea isn’t far-fetched-- according to Intelligence Newsletter (2/17/00), a rear admiral from the Special Operations Command told a PSYOPS conference that the military needed to find ways to "gain control" over commercial news satellites to help bring down an "informational cone of silence" over regions where special operations were taking place. One of CNN’s PSYOPS “interns” worked in the network’s satellite division. (During the Afghanistan war the Pentagon found a very direct way to “gain control”-- it simply bought up all commercial satellite images of Afghanistan, in order to prevent media from accessing them.)
It’s worth noting that the 4th PSYOPS group is the same group that staffed the National Security Council's now notorious Office of Public Diplomacy (OPD), which planted stories in the U.S. media supporting the Reagan Administration's Central America policies during the 1980s. Described by a senior U.S. official as a "vast psychological warfare operation of the kind the military conducts to influence a population in enemy territory" (Miami Herald, 7/19/87), the OPD was shut down after the Iran-Contra investigations, but not before influencing coverage in major outlets including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Washington Post (Extra!, 9-10/01).
The OPD may be gone, but the Bush administration’s recent recess appointment of former OPD head Otto Reich as assistant secretary of state for Western Hemisphere affairs is not reassuring. It suggests, at best, a troubling indifference to Reich’s role in orchestrating the OPD’s deception of the American people.
Indeed, as the Federation of American Scientists points out, “the Bush Administration’s insistent efforts to expand the scope of official secrecy have now been widely noted as a defining characteristic of the Bush presidency” (Secrecy News, 2/18/02). The administration’s refusal to disclose Enron-related information to the General Accounting Office is perhaps the most publicized of these efforts; another is Attorney General John Ashcroft’s October 12 memo urging federal agencies to resist Freedom Of Information Act requests. ......

52. The Yahoo posts about this are truly scary.
Many rightwingers posting and it looks like all of the posts were written by Ann Coulter. Basically the gist is that the families are all liberals and all liberals are traitors.

I just cannot believe how many Americans have been totally brainwashed by rightwing radio and Fox.

Fox, Rush and the like, are teaching hate nonstop, brainwash is an excellent one-word description - our country should be weeping!

My heart aches!
