Wouldn't this raise the assination threat level? i already don't trust these christians and other fey americans, to act in an urbane, fastidious manner when Kerry defeats Bush. But it seems like having one of the most prominant members of the Malevolent party might motivate them more. Plus his anti vietnam war stance, and these vietnam vets running around one homerkin away from insanity.

9. I don't want unity
I want victory. It will take decades of Democratic rule to undo the evil that has been done by 4 years of republican rule.

2. That's a good thought that I never heard discussed.
They aren't just going to roll over and make life easy for a President Kerry and we know they will stop at nothing.

Welcome to DU too!

3. I love Sen. McCain; he's my favorite Repuke,
but I don't want him on the ticket. We've got too many great dems out there.

7. I agree

McCain is one of a very few repukes I have any respect for. My Father served with McCain's Father during the Korean war and Dad has often mentioned the kind of honor and decency Sen. McCain must have been brought up with from knowing and serving with the Sr. McCain.

However, Sen. McCain IS a conservative Republican, no matter how you slice it. Conservative Republican viewpoints tend to run contrary to what I believe, and what I imagine 99% of the Democratic party holds near and dear. If he wants to run, let him run on an "R" ticket, not ours.

8. Another reason never mentioned
In addition to the assassination factor, we would be handing the repugnants the White House on a platter in four or eight years.
