Tom Ridge for Vice President?
Did I hear correctly? Both Chris Matthews and Howard Fineman said they heard rumors about Tom Ridge replacing Cheney as Bush's running mate! I don't think there's any chance in hell of that happening, but it's interesting that these rumors are cropping up in Republican circles.

2. Desperation, if they can't win Ohio and Nevada
Edited on Mon May-17-04 07:34 PM by billbuckhead
All eyes will be on Florida,it will be harder to cheat if Kerry pulls away down there They have no where else to go. Though I doubt, even with Ridge that Bush will win Pennsylvania.

6. Big deal. Ridge means nothing to us Buckeyes.
I doubt if most Ohioans even know who he is, much less know or care that he's the director of Homeland Security. But then, Ohio's not exactly a big target for terrorism. I don't Ridge was ever even that big of a deal in PA, either. He just wound up in the right room at the right time to kiss Bush's ring.

12. Does anyone even know....
What color terra alert we are on these days? High Alert Orange? Extreme Red? Moderate yellow?

What a friggin' disaster Tom Ridge has been. There is so much stupidity associated with him that he'd be an absolute laughingstock as a VP candidate.

19. Thanks.
I think we'll be at permanant ELEVATED YELLOW. Forever. They can't reduce it, else, if something does happen they would have failed to 'warn' us.

This whole terror threat level indicator is nothing but a cheap CYA farce.

4. Ridge is pro-choice
How will the Fundies handle that?

Maybe Bush is feeling pressure from Kerry s Vietnam medals.

Ridge is a combat vet.

I heard it said he could make a good one at DOD. But that also sounded like a joke. That was a few days ago. What is it with that guy?

11. He does have pretty strong credentials
He came up with that color-coding system, much like the one we used in my elementary school lunch room to control the volume of talking. But he actually had the genius to transform "yellow light means too much talking" into "yellow means fear and spend, citizen".

That's just the sort of outside-the-box thinking required in this post-September 11th world.

13. As chief of Homeland Security, he's failed.
He's done nothing more than scare people and put up a dumb color code system and played The Boy Who Cried Wolf at every given opportunity.

I wouldn't trust him.

20. Hey, how about Kerry/Ridge?
After all, so many have said they'd vote for Kerry no matter what and Ridge can help us win some republicans, right? The VP nominee doesn't really matter, right? It starts and ends with Kerry, right?
