I gave my opinion to JFK on his VP choice
Telling that John McCain isn't a good choice, etc.

This is the response back:

Dear Friend,

Thank you so much for sending John Kerry your thoughts about the campaign. Many people like you from across the country have written to express support for John Kerry and his run for higher office. Your suggestions on a potential Vice Presidential candidate are appreciated.

John Kerry has asked Washington businessman and civic leader Jim Johnson to lead the vice presidential search process to select a Democratic running mate for John Kerry in his fight to take back the White House and bring change to America. Over the next several weeks, Mr. Johnson will assemble a team to begin the outreach and vetting of potential nominees.

7. I'll vote against any general
sorry, old generals as a rule are VERY conservative, no matter how moderate they may appear.

10. At least that "old general" knows the true cost of fighting a war....
...and has done everything he could to avoid fighting wars and to lessen the loss of life if he had to fight one. He's been that way ever since since his bitter experiences in Vietnam, to include being wounded.

As far as who gets your vote, you better start thinking about who we DON'T want in power for another four years instead of who you don't want as VP.

is Kerry going to pull the troops out? Woud Clark? Doubtful, more people will go one dying because the American people have to be taught every decade that "IF YOU MAKE ENOUGH ENEMIES YOU WILL GET YOUR ASS KICKED."

the way he talked about war deaths in his books, was very impersonal.

collateral damage this and that.

Generals in my opinion, like wars.

28. Calling Wes Clark a "bonafied killer" isn't MEAN????
 "Frankly if you have thoughts about me, please keep them to yourself."

'Fraid you're outta luck, kiddo. When you throw orders around like some sort of commando, like some sort of "bonafide killer", I'd think the military thing might be more to your liking than you originally let on!

You don't know shit about Wes Clark.

Jeesh, I wish this McCain talk would go away. He has done nothing to deserve consideration. McCain is much closer to Shrub on all the important issues.

5. Clark can't be Defense Sec.
SOD has to be a civilian for 10 years. CLark left the military in 2000.

He would make a terrific Secretary of State if he doesn't get the VP nod.

Welcome to DU. :hi:

6. Thanks. Happy to be here.
Think Clark would be perfect. Would completely deny the repugs any credibility on the "national defense" issue. As to comments in other post areas re: possible debate weakness of Clark, I strongly suspect he would be far more assertive against Cheney than he was against members of his own party in the primaries. Know the phrase "Keep your powder dry."?

8. Kucinich or Graham
Kerry has to balance his pro war vote with an anti war one. Either is a good choice.

Dean would be the antiwar candidate and he would bring in the Nadar voters.

11. dean wasn't antiwar
I dont beleive so, he didn't have to vote against it. And the way he "embraced" the antiwar bloc reeked of opportunism to me. Kucinich and Graham should alot of class and courage in voting against a bill that passed with overwhelming support. And they should be rewarded for that. Also Graham is retiring and we should be looking for ways to keep him in the govt.

15. If it's anti-war you want
you'd best go with Clark. He consistently opposed this war from the time they first started talking about it.

Stick around here awhile, you may learn a few new things.

Why don't you try to educate yourself a little bit? Most liberals try to maintain an open mind and not jump to knee jerk conclusions.

24. opportunism just like with dean
he didn't have to vote against it, when he tried to say he wa against the war he didn't really do a great job. "it the wrong war, its being run badly'" like there is a right war or a right way to invade and occupy another country. You need to educate yourself, just like the rest of america.

27. He wasn't in a position to vote on it
but he did testify before Congress about it in Sept. of 2002. Most of the predictions he made at the time ended up coming true. Richard Perle certainly thought he was opposed to the invasion on the basis of his testimony.

If you would like to further educate yourself, I can point you to a large number of resources. Who knows, you might come around to liking the General and agreeing that he would make the best pick for VP, or at least to tolerating the idea.:)

17. Please do not use "JFK" for John Kerry
Too controversial. It's the wrong meme to be forwarding. Let Kerry be allowed to be his own man. We do not need the comparisons to the mythological idealized "Camelot."
