Powell just said on CSPAN at the World Economic Summit..."We will
support whoever Ambassador Brahimi picks for the interim government in Iraq". So...they dumped the whole responsibility on his shoulders. Now..no matter what happens..it will be his fault.

Powell is a sellout and his GQ article is a joke.. He won't quit because of the adulation and admiration he gets around the world.

Core Values be damned..."pump me up" is all that matters.

1. Cut and run
I think they're getting ready to declare victory and retreat.

4. if that's so, won't that alienate Bushit's "core"
who are a bunch of "Bring on the Rapture" "Nuke Em All and let God sort em out" yahoos

as well as the moderates who would ask "Why did we spend our troops and our treasure for nothing"

Can't see how a 'cut and run' policy is going to help his re-selection

I'd be interested in some ideas if "C & R" will help Bushit

8. I don't know
I think this thing is (as someone else said in another thread) an albatross no matter what he does. I wonder if they could be putting out feelers, though. Remember sending a man to Mars?

2. I read yesterday that Bremmer has set up commissions
whose members have 5 year terms so that the US will control the aspects of Iraq that are important to us no matter who is nominally in charge. However, if a really strong person is in charge of Iraq, I suppose he could refuse to accept the commissions' decisions.

3. classic cut and run
so much for the great bush strategy. Now we have to bow down to Brahimi! What a joke!

5. This is Great. They know they are toast.
Unless Brahimi has been bought off, it means that the US will have to give up it's stranglehold. Maybe all the recent talk about not leaving unless we were asked was a trial balloon. As much as Bush wants Iraq, he wants a second term even more.

6. Most in the US are cowards of the higest order
They can drop bombs from the air, launch missiles from afar, use tanks and bulldozzers to crumble helpless peoples' homes, but they can't stand face to face with anything or anyone: not truth, not evil, not the enemy, not even friends and allies. We are cowards and this Iraq invasion and occupation proves it.

7. beautiful words espousing great american ideals
too bad every word out of his mouth has to be presumed to be lie.

(I didn't think he got a great round of welcoming applause from the audience)
