"flocks of injured soldiers" stored in Germany

Subject: something that needs to be looked into...........

This was received from a friend on May 12, 2004:

"My news from a friend comes from somebody who works for the VA . The first interesting thing is that flocks of injured soldiers have not yet begun to turn up in this country needing VA benefits. They are being stockpiled in Germany. It is quite likely that they will begin to be shipped back on about Nov. 3rd, right after the election. The second thing from the VA is that they are advertising for psychologists to sign on for a year in Germany. In the past, even in the gulf war, they would hire maybe one or two in a year's time. They are currently looking for either 21 or 27, I can't remember which he said it was."

Mary O'Reilly, St. Louis, Missouri

1. Giving this a kick
Need the brilliant researchers of DU to get to work on this and if true (and knowing bushco who could doubt it) get this into the mainstream media.

5. They Can't Take Care Of Them In The US
For two reasons: (a) Regan dismembered the support mechanisms and turned the Vet's out on the street, and (b) Dimbo can't have those "walking billboards" around to let the people question his authority and judgement.

6. A nurse at Landstuhl said they had treated over 14,000
..that's a lot of injured ... And you know that if they are not severely injured, they are probably treated in Kuwait, and sent back to their unit..

14,000 seriously injured enough to be medivac-ed to Germany is a BIG DEAL....

I was sorry that the reported did not press her harder for details..or do a follow up article.. We rarely hear about the injured..

The two soldiers who were also interviewed were badly hurt.. one an amputee and the other lost an eye../

7. How about 40,000 to Walter Reed?
Remember this from Aaron Brown a few weeks back?:

"NISSEN: Twenty-two hundred hours: Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. Patients are off-loaded onto buses bound for Walter Reed Army Medical Center or Bethesda Naval Hospital. It is hard for the flight crew, especially the older ones, to see them go.

GRIFFIN: You don't look at them as some stranger that is on the other side of the world. You look at them as, wow, this could have been my son or my daughter.

NISSEN: There is little time for reflection. Within hours, the medevac missions go again, back to Germany, back downrange, back home with the latest casualties of war.

Beth Nissen, CNN.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

BROWN: Since the war began, there have been 3,000 of these flights, 40,000 patients. They haven't lost one yet."

9. Support them when they return
Just keep reminding your friends that the soldiers didn't make the policies that sent them there. The vets will be returning with wounds we can't even see in addition to the ones we can.

Get to know your congressional representative and become a voice for expanding veterans' benefits, because under this administration they've been cut. Our congressional rep pointed out to us that even in areas (of vet benefits) that have not been cut, just keeping the funding at pre-war levels has had the same effect as a big cut. And, she says truthfully, she is outnumbered in this Republican-dominated House of Reps. She needs people like DU to work on their own representatives to change their actions.
