Ms Tady expresses my concerns that's for sure. I don't want someone who will try to out-Bush Bush...I prefer someone with his OWN vision of what the world can be.

An Open Letter to John Kerry

Dear Mr. Kerry,

You’re not my first choice. But then again, I don’t have much of one. As you are the Democratic presidential candidate, and the only viable alternative to Bush, I’m supposed to rally around you.

First, we need some real answers about your plans for Iraq. You’ve suggested that you will step up the war on terrorism, increasing the size of our Armed Forces in your first 100 days as president and calling for 40,000 more troops in Iraq. This doesn’t sound like a plan for peace. It sounds like a plan for extended invasion and occupation.

Four years with a baloney sandwich in charge is preferable to four more years of Bush. Get over your reservations and help us get rid of him.

So, let me get this straight: The writer of the original letter has valid concerns about what she's not hearing out of Kerry. The poster agrees with the writer of the letter, as do I.

I have stated repeatedly on this site that I will vote for Kerry. I feel confident in stating that the author of the thread will also vote for Kerry. Stating our reluctance and our very real concern with what we're not hearing from John Kerry brings more "sit down and shut up," "get over it," or other clever phrases we typically hear from the other party.

I have worked hundreds of volunteer hours and will work hundreds more before the election to get Bush out of office. I also have contributed financially. I'm sure that there are many on DU and in the Democratic Party across the country that feel the same way, but will work to unseat Bush despite our misgivings. Evidently, it's not enough. If we don't march in lockstep, we obviously support the other side.

The writer of the letter is giving valuable information to John Kerry and to his campaign staff. It might be a good thing if he listened to it and acted on it.

by voting for Kucinich in the Oregon primary

7. I, too, voted for Dennis Kucinich in the Missouri

primary on Feb 3...the first time ever I felt good in casting my vote.

I will hold my nose and vote for Kerry. If he wins (and it is still a big if) I will then watch everything he and the Democrats do. I am sure my e mail sent box will be quite busy.

4. There are 50MM Megan Tady's in the Party.

Should we all write our own letters to tell Kerry what he should do before and after he is elected? Could 50MM Democrats give Kerry, gasp, conflicting advice? Does Kerry need 50MM campaign advisors?

No, I'll let John Kerry run on his record/vision and trust him to do the right things in his campaign to retake the WH.

Perhaps Ms. Tady's time would be better spent getting Democrats elected/re-elected to Congress so we can retake the majority and effect real change. It's really sad to see "Democrats" buying the Nader lie that there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats. Kerry will be the most progressive Democrat that I've had the pleasure to vote for in my 32 years of voting.....but for some, I guess itis just not good enough.

5. Good for Megan!

She raises some excellent points. While it is important to get * out of the WH, you'd think Kerry would aspire to being more than just "anyone but Bush."

Very sad state of affairs for America, IMO.
