"Sen. Kerry short on character"
Yes, once again, the local newspaper brings out the wingnuts. Here's an excerpt from today's letter section:

"What Kerry has to worry about is what he did after leaving the Navy following a four-month tour of duty in Vietnam. He blatantly attacked our soldiers still in combat. His attack was bitter with vicious allegations about events even though he had not ever witnessed such events. He was even a leader of anti-Vietnam events. Kerry gave much aid and comfort to the enemy."

Here's the link to the full letter. There's a link at the bottom for leaving your comments (which take a while to show up, but they always do). You know what to do. :)

1. Conveniently forgetting his stateside "attack" helped end the war
If Kerry and his group had not spoken up, how much longer would the war have gone on? How many more men and women, on both sides, would have died? He gave the anti-war protest a legitimate, convincing voice. America began to listen, finally.

If Kerry had come back and gone into business, the RW diatribe would be that he did nothing to bring the boys back home, that all he cared about was making himself look good on his business resume.

The hex of the right wing: Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

repukes seem to forget that if they want to challenge what kerry did during the vietnam era, it opens the door to bush's irresponsible history during the EXACT SAME TIME.

if they want to put kerry's political activism up against bush's refusal to show for a physical to avoid getting caught for cocaine/alcohol abuse, i say, "bring it on!"

4. Doesn't this whole Abu Ghraib thing negate the atrocities argument?
It's hard to point a finger at John Kerry and say, "He accused Americans of committing atrocities during a war!" when Americans are being charged with committing atrocities during a war.

7. and of course there are the editorial cartoons
From the very unfunny Michael Ramirez of the LA Times

http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-include-ramirez,1,2243700.ssipage

A caricature of a long faced Kerry saying

(balloon on left)

"Some people have accused John Kerry of being a flip-flopping liberal..."

(ballon on right)

"How dare they accuse me of being...John Kerry"

Ha-Ha Mike. I'm sure mommy will put that one on the fridge.
