Why were prisoners released from the Iraqi prison?
It is my connjecture that many of the prisoners who were released in Iraq last week could have provided vital evidence against those who were holding them in custody. They got rid of them into the mire so that they could be traced only with difficulty and because their testimony could be doctored by others by producing others with the same name who are in the payroll of the US authorities.

The release has nothing, IMHO, with the sudden urge to grant freedom to a bunch of people held illegally in the prison.

Can the US authorities now produce a true list of prisoners they released at the Court Martial hearings so that the defendants can call these people as witnesses in their testimony. I am sure that would never be permitted!!

1. Well this was just showing our compassion. Had nothing to do with the
utter incompetence which led to them being held for so long for no reason in the first place. Nor did it having thing to do with the ass burning the administration was getting because of the abuse that occurred due to having people who weren't supposed to be there in the first place.

2. I think it's responding to ICRC that 90% prisoners shouldn't
be there. You know, say we're sorry but we fixed it. That seems to be the reaction to the abuse. We were taking care of the problem when we first heard about it, you just didn't know, and it's taken 5 months to schedule the courts marshals.

Yes, my remarks are sarcastic, but it also looks like there's some underlying truth.

3. it was a lame attempt at saving face. . .
like. . ."we're so magnanimous to free those prisoners. . .", who were unlawfully incarcerated, sexually abused, physically tortured, never charged, totally humiliated, and 70-90% INNOCENT OF ANY CRIME WHATSOEVER!

If we really gave a damn about them, each and every one of them would have been interviewed as to what they had to endure, and councelled, apologized to, and assured that there would be restitution for the abhorrant violation of their human rites.

But no, we'll throw them onto the streets, broken and seething with rage ensuring further inevitable reprisals.

This is the 30 thousandth example of how to win the hearts & minds. . .under occupation. . .neocon style.. . /not.
