Anybody up for creating an "Evil Wal-Mart Chair" site?

Remember - Bert was friends with terrorists also! Be vigilant, don't let the chair fool you!

10. oh COME ON.
If you are serious, then I see the mentality behind your countless conspiracy theories.

If you are joking, then your name should be sickdog instead of stickdog. :eyes: It's really shitty to joke IN ANY WAY about this guy's death.

2. Marc (grinz2much before he got tombstoned) is high or something.
The chair in the hallway shot doesn't have arms, for starters.

The chair being some kind of major clue as to what really happened is a serious wild goose chase, imho. White plastic chairs are popular there and here because they're so cheap to produce and fairly durable and easy to clean. I'm not going to waste any more time on this.

Still, there's WAY more than just one white plastic chair in Iraq, I'm sure.

are they common in iraq? Did halliburton who probably supplied the chairs supply chair models that are unique in iraq?

11. Trouble. The chair is run of the mill and the suits are used every place
and walls tend to look the same. But you could be right. I just think you are reading in to it things that are just general. Why would we want to kill this man? And the Arabs do lob off heads for things in that part of the world. It is also scary to us, so terrorist would use it.

26. If it was JUST the chair thing, I'd say nonsense
but all the other questions, most notably the discrepancy between the government line and the diplomatic proof as to Berg's detainee status, convince me this is NOT just a retaliation killing.

29. LIAR!!!
It was my mom- She has four!!!

Gotta admit, I LMAO as we drove past a local grocery store this morning- they have stacks of 'em for sale out front (3.99, IIRC)~ which reminds me, gotta call Ashcroft in the morning to turn this local turr'ist (or CIA???) sleeper cell in! In fact, the store is called Winn Dixie- how much more blatantly anti-American could it be!?

FFS, people, there are enough legitimately peculiar points to this, uh... incident, to warrant skepticism- watching intelligent adults going batshit over something so piddly really troubles me. And don't give me that "yeah but they also...." Please, PLEASE, for the love of sanity, take the chair out of the equation!

27. i'm sorry, but perkel is an idiot.
Edited on Sat May-15-04 09:31 PM by EV1Ltimm

that isn't US issue prison garb -- that's a womens silk pajama set. the poor bastard was kidnapped by a bunch of half-wits who like to play jailhouse with mommy's night clothes.

and it's a bunch of stereotypical crap to believe that all "arabs" are skinny, don't wear gold and don't wear tennis-shoes. is this a joke? am i missing out on something?

and since when did bullet proof vests start to look like ammo pouches? Notice a lack of protection of vital areas that bullet proof vests were specifically designed for?

and to further deepen the "me-not-getting-the-joke" bit, is iraq on the international white plastic chair blacklist? can no two walls in a video or photo be kinda close to being the same color? is it against islamic law to have the wrong time on one of your camcorders? can a beheading only be captured on one camcorder? can a valid beheading only occur when the person is still alive? are iraqi goons strictly forbidden from having access to video editing software and an internet connection?

I'm all for talking about how messed up it was that berg was in a US jail for 13 days and was subsequently captured by these goons because of it -- but pointing out silly things in a videotape is just going to make us look silly. i've even brought up some of the errors to a co-worker to enlighten him on some of the differing takes on the situation. his reply says it all: "what? the guy got his head chopped off, how does any of that make a difference?"

But hey, god bless perkel for hosting bartcop.

30. Thank god someone brought this up
I'd been itching to point out that Nick is obviously not wearing a jumpsuit, US issue prison garb or otherwise. There's no opening in the front to get in and out of it, therefore, it would have to be a shirt/pant set. Seems fairly obvious that it's more then likely pajamas that just happen to be orange. The only thing I'd disagree with you on is that they're women's pajamas. Middle Eastern men where the same thing as PJ's. One of my brothers who spent a couple of years in the Middle East has the exact same PJ set that he bought there except they're blue... a pullover style shirt (with the "V" notch in the neck so your head fits through) and drawstring pants (for some reason they don't seem to be big on elastic waistbands there). They're very common Middle Eastern sleepwear for men and come in a variety of colors. Very comfy sleepwear in a broiling area where it's unseamly to sleep naked or even shirtless. One thing my brother noticed in spending time in the ME was that men commonly wear bright or "girlie" colored clothes that here would seem too feminine... his PJ's are light blue/torquise color that men here probably wouldn't be caught dead in.

31. You forgot these three DU Tinfoiler gems.....
My personal fave is the poster who points out that one of the captors "wipes his nose with his left hand, not a very Islamic move." You know nose wiping. That is sooooo like totally a Christian move.

"That's a fancy watch for desert people. It looks jarhead or CIA to me." I have contact Fossil, asking them to provide all Desert People with those new fangled things.....whatr are they called, again...oh yeah. Watches.

And from the I've-been-to-a-lebanese-restaurant department,
someone would like to see what is in Berg's stomach, "MRE's or felafel and tea."
