Wow--here is a "conversion' post from a xtian shrub supporter on another
board I used to post heavily on. I don't yet see a conversion to a JK vote, but I see disillusionment with the military involvement in Iraq. This guy was a serious hardcore case, but I will admit he always admitted he wasn't the most knowledgeable on politics and seemed to have a more open mind than the other wingnuts on the board (there has been nonstop flame warfare going on there ever since a 1000 post thread about the Dixie Chix during the propaganda invasion runup).

Keep it up......Im starting to change my mind.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would like to start off by saying that I think both sides of the coin and those in between make some good arguments when it comes to the Iraq war etc.

Through all this bickering and dividing of Americans I search to find an answer to get us back on the same page. Dont get me wrong I still support what is happening in Iraq but not if it tears apart the country. I think our biggest threat as a country is not terrorism but rather being torn apart from the inside. If we all stood together terrorism would be a small problem. Everyday I see politicians fight for power in this country and its disgusting. I dont care what side your on, they are brutal and stop at nothing for power.

So on to a solution. Im starting to think we should just withdraw from Iraq. Not only that but Afghanistan, and everywhere else we are in the world. Bring my friends home. Granted we would be giving in to the terrorist, but if we had no troops anywhere but here what would they bitch about? I say we let the UN deal with everones problems. I say we withdraw all aid and deal with countries on a trade basis only. If the UN asks for our troops...we should tell em to fuck off.

Is it possible for America to do a sudden turn around? Could we all of a sudden start withdrawing troops and in 6 months or so have them all home? We would be irresponsible to do so, particularly in the case in Iraq but its what everyone wants. Why cant we just give it to them. Can we just go back to minding our own business? dealing with our own affairs instead of caring who's starving where? Why is it we are made so responsible for helping the world?

Basically I guess my question is.........Why cant we give everyone what they want? Would the reprocussions be bigger than they are now? Or is it as simple as that?

1. I don't see the conversion.
He still thinks Iraq was the right call--"I support what is happening in Iraq...". He then calls for bedrock conservative isolationism.

Later: "Can we just go back to minding our own business? dealing with our own affairs instead of caring who's starving where? Why is it we are made so responsible for helping the world?"

Funny question from a Xtian--as in "Am I my brother's keeper?" Maybe you should remind him the answer is supposed to be YES!

All in all it's pretty disgusting.

2. Don't get me wrong, this guy is not coming to any kind of straight
thinking anytime soon. For any of these guys to suddenly be thinking, "uh, hey, this thing is FUKT! maybe we gotta blow outta here" shows that the rats are fleeing the sinking ship, which can only be good for us. This same guy posted that he wished shrub was not running again... but not for the reasons that you and I wish he was not running, because he has "caved in" so miserably to the liberals on so many things, immigration, etc. LOL

We are seeing the same phenomenon, only higher profile, with the various RW pundits either calling the war FUKT, shrubco FUKT, or Rumsfeld FUKT. (To varying degrees: Tom Friedman NYT, George Will WaPo, Max Boot LAT, etc.)

3. "Can we just go back to minding our own business?" is anti-pnac
there is some hope for him if he really means it..
with chimpy being the lynchpin of pnac agenda, he'll end up with no choice.
