1. Here is the link directly to the Financial Times story:
http://news.ft.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=FT.com/StoryFT/FullStory&c=StoryFT&cid=1083180528014

Public support for President George W. Bush's handling of the war in Iraq has plunged to only 36 per cent and his approval rating has fallen to the lowest level of his presidency, according to a Zogby poll due out on Sunday.

Confronted with a rising US body count and images of torture in Abu Ghraib prison, Americans have begun to countenance failure in Iraq. The majority of people polled now do not think it was worth going to war.

The shift in the national mood bodes ill for Mr Bush's hopes of a second term and has bolstered the campaign of John Kerry, his Democrat challenger.

The poll will show 42 per cent of people approve of Mr Bush's overall performance. Almost two-thirds are critical of his handling of Iraq, according to John Zogby, the pollster.

Looks like Dubya is in troubya!

4. Isn't this just confusing John Zogby with James Zogby?
I say this in all seriousness...

Like comparing John Kerry to Bob Kerrey.

One of them actually thinks bush will win in a landslide in November. How frigging deluded can you get?

Must be nice to live in such an illusory world.

But hey I LOVE that attitude in freepers and other bush supporters. Keeps 'em lazy!

Shhhh!!!

And you just gotta love that guy who called Zogby a "raghead" and suggested they send him some pork rinds and a plane ticket to Baghdad. Nice. Real classy.

You know what's the best part of it all? Had that Zogby poll shown GOOD numbers for bush, they'd be praising him to the hills! Idiots.

CONCLUSION - ZOGBY off by 14% on Kerry --- Zogby Sauce 14% for Arafat support]

Well yea-uh! People haggle and change their votes during a caucus, that's why it's not a primary!

16. freepers are delusional - they live in a fantasy world
"This Poll is meant to sow doubt in our minds. All signs point to a Landslide win by the President in November. Bush needs to keep doing what he's doing and we need to keep advancing our arguments. Rove is running a brilliant campaign and the Rats are overplaying their hand as usual. This will all come back to bite them in the hiney. You just watch. TO VICTORY!!!!

18. Blow to * in Ohio
AT LEAST OHIO'S NOT A SWING STATE: It's never good for a president when this happens. From today's gaggle with Scott McLellan aboard Air Force One:

Q About a year ago, April 24th, last year, the President went to Canton, Ohio. He went to the Timken Company. I don't know if you remember the trip, I wasn't on it. He went to a bearings factory, part of the Timken Company, touted his economic plans and talked about jobs and growth. Timken announced today that they're shutting down that plant that the President visited a year ago. I just wonder if that's ironic, that the President touted his economic strategy, doesn't appear to be working?

22. Scotties reply
MR. McCLELLAN: One, I don't know about the report or the circumstances related to the company. But I think it is important to point out that our economy is showing great strength, and continuing to grow stronger. We've had more than 1.1 million jobs -- new jobs created since last August. The unemployment rate is well below the averages of the '70s, '80s and '90s. So the economy is moving in the right direction. Obviously we are also in a changing economy.

And the President believes it's important to push forward on the initiatives he's outlined to make sure workers have the skills they need to fill the jobs of the 21st century. And we must continue to work to move forward on the President's six-point plan to create an even more robust environment for job creation. And we also need to work to make sure that we have an educated workforce, to fill the high-growth jobs of the 21st century.

But the economy is moving in the right direction, and we need to -- because of the actions that the President took. And we will continue to work to create an even more robust environment for job creation.

27. another kick..... the numbers should reflect lower... like 37% approval
and, unless some degree of success shows up quickly, will head for the lower 30's.

The Bush guys in Panic Mode right about now. Plugging those leaks in the Engine Room using Duct Tape not working. Water level rising too fast.

30. I said something similar in another thread
If 9/11 hadn't happened Bush would have been in the low 40s for over three years. He got those high ratings out of sympathy because we were all so devastated.

If the numbers don't go back up, something will come along that forces them back into the stratosphere...

9/11 did that nicely

28. Even better, if you consider it. Folks like Lieberman...
There a lot of "conservative" Democrats out there that will, when asked, extoll the virtues of the Shrub and his administration. They won't vote for him, though.
