Dana Priest, of the Washington Post, was on Tweety's show tonight ..
Dana Priest said what is obvious to us, "Iraq is turning the corner for the worse."

No shit! Iraq has sealed the fate of the illegitimate presidency of George W. Bu$h. He is toast. But Iraq has also sealed the fate of the USA for the next fifty years. We are truly fucked because of the Bu$h regime's extreme damage, worldwide. Hope Kerry is up to it.

1. It's almost inconceivable to me what has happened.
If I wasn't seeing it with my own eyes, I never would have believed it. I opposed the invasion of Iraq from the onset because I never believed the case was made that Iraq was a threat to the United States. However, I assumed that * had consulted with others about doing this, that they would find WMD's in Iraq, and that there was a workable plan. I think of it as a lawyer. You don't ask a question in court that you don't already know the answer to. I assumed that they had answers that I didn't know about.

I never, in my wildest imagination, would have believed that they would have been completely incompetent. In the back of my mind, in spite of everything that's happening, I think I still expect them to pull a rabbit out of a hat. I just can't conceive of an American administration wracked by such complete incompetence. It's truly astounding.

7. I don't buy the incompetence theory, re-read pnac
they set forth their plan plain as day

world domination thru control of oil by means of spreading chaos

They care not one wit for truthfulness, all that they do is based on

deception and manipulation.

They may stlll get away with it.

Martial Law is a real possibility

9. Martial Law is a real possibility
Five years ago I'd have considered that lunacy, not in America. Now I think that if they can time the terrorist attack well enough martial law is inevitable.

21. Well you can't call this whole thing an exercise in competence.
So what else can you call it? Everything they said has turned out to be completely wrong. I'm still not seeing how the appearance of incompetence is helpful to them. I agree that they may still get away with it, but they certainly could have done a better job of it. Much better.

they don't give a shit if they get called on anything

they own most of the media and just concoct a new outrage

to shock and awe the airwaves.

2. Not to change the subject on you Mac, but Dana Priest is...
...one of the most beautiful women I have ever laid my eyes on. Not quite sure what it is either? Just something about her. Weird. And I agree with her too. Bush is in trouble right now.

5. Why are so many people here acting as if one-term is a sure-thing?
Firstly, Bush has electronic voting machines which can be programmed to give whatever numbers Bush wants.

Wally O'Dell, CEO of the Diebold voting machine company, promised to deliver Ohio to Bush.

Secondly, Bush can arrange a big ceremony in which power in Iraq is supposedly handed over, at the same time as the Democratic Convention.

Thirdly, Bush can arrange a show trial of Saddam.

10. I agree, Eric J.
What I've never understood about the BBV thing is the idea that bush can only steal it if it's close. It seems to me that the voting machine can be programmed exactly as you say - to give bush whatever numbers he needs. Add one to bush for every X Kerry votes or something. Is that not a real possibility?

12. in spite of all the fraud in 2000, including people being turned away
In spite of all the fraud in 2000, including people being turned away at the polls in Florida for being "suspectd felons" (who weren't felons), there was no new election in Florida.

No matter how obviously fraudulent the 2004 election is, nothing will be done.

The media will treat the illegitimate Bush as if he were legitmately elected after 2004, just as they have pretended he's legitimate since 2000.

Ideally, the press would address him as "Pretender Bush," but that hasn't happened, and won't happen no matter how phony the 2004 election is.

No matter how bad things are in Iraq on June 30, Bush can still arrange for a cheering crowd in Iraq to celebrate the "transfer of power."

18. Look for a Tet '68 uprising on 6/30.
Mark my word. It will happen. Can you pronounce "Hue"? Do you know what "Hue" means? Street fighting, 2/68, by the USMC. Study that battle.

24. Hue (pronounced "way") is the old imperial capital of Vietnam.
It is a beautiful fortress city on the perfume river. Hue is where the USMC and US Army fought a bloody month-long battle during February (Tet) 1968.
