It would have already generated the patriotic surge of something like the Jessica Lynch story if it was going to. It hasn't. Now, the longer it remains alive the longer it will remind people of just how swimmingly our foreign policy and its poster-child misadventure in Iraq are going.

But the family coming out so strongly against the administration and the questions about his whereabouts look like they might negate any benefit the administration thought they could get for pushing this.
