Need some advice - please
I have a Republican friend that I recently did a favor for with the understanding that it would require a little "quid pro quo".

I asked her to either attend the viewing of Michael Moore's new film (when it comes out)or read a book or article that reflects the reasons why she should vote Democratic in November (or at least begin to question her loyalty to shrub.) I was thinking of Molly Ivins, Bushwacked or Micael Moore, Dude, Where's my Country? But, maybe a shorter article would be better?

She agreed to the terms of the favor and is now on vacation for two weeks, so I have some time to come up with something that is just right. Does anyone have a good suggestion?

Feel free to post here or email me - whatever is better for you. Thanks in advance! :-)

1. The most eye-opening book would be Clarke's.

2. House of Saud by Craig Unger
It is the most eyeopening book.

The whole Bush/Saud relationship was what turned me into an ABB.

3. Personal Favorites are these
George Orwell's "1984" and Ambassador Joesph Wilson's "The Politics of Truth"

I would start with "1984" then "Dude, Wheres my Country?" then Joe's book.

4. If she still ain't on board by now, it is hopeless
Just give her the "Complete Calvin and Hobbes", and keep quietly asking yourself, "how can she still be a Bush fan and do I need this person as a friend"?

7. thanks to all for suggestions
Feeney2,
Yes, I know what you mean. But, I have faith in her that she is not a lost cause - just misguided. I hope. That's why I will offer her some enlightening good reads. And I will take the suggestions, too. There are some that I haven't gotten to yet. Good luck to us all.

6. John Dean's book - it is a quick read
and very well document. Focuses on the pattern of secrecy in this administration and points to how that could be problematic. If nothing else it would plant a seed that would get her to notice (as we all do, now) when the admin pushes to silence the next debate... or fights giving congress information...etc. If she starts mentally taking note - over time, I would venture to guess, she would start seeing patterns as well.
