Those right-wingers turned into moral relativists really fast, didn't they
The right-wing spin now seems to be: our abuse is *nothing* compared to Saddam! Torture and abuse is apparently okay now, just as long as it's not as bad as what our enemies do. Boy, that behavioral standard sure went south in a hurry.

I listened to about 5 minutes of Rush today and it was just nauseating. So smarmy. "So the female prisoners were forced to expose their breasts. I guess that's only okay at the Kennedy compound." It was full of crap like that. Unbelievable.

Then I switched over to another AM station, and it was another gasbag saying, "This is so overblown, so overblown. The liberal media cares more about the Iraqi prisoners than our own soldiers!"

1. Oh, I know.
Last night I read an article where Tom DeLay said that the reports on abuse were overblown. Wow, rape, beatings, even killings. Overblown? What happened to the Repukes who said "Take responsibility for your actions"?

2. I love this too
how about a campaign slogan for Bush's reselection?

Bush/Cheney-Not As Bad As Al Queada

Or a new recruitment campaign for the army?

Go Army, we're not as bad as Saddam.

4. Hey, they're just "flexible"!!
KILL those convicted of murder! (don't worry whether they are really guilty)

YOU must have that baby you conceived, or we'll put in you jail!!

Saddam torture....Baaaad.

Murkin torture.......notsobad.

I think the main problem is that they don't understand what "moral relativasim" even means. They probably think it means you have to be nice to your relatives (if they're bornagain, that is)

8. Here's what gets me.
This constant hot air on the "liberal" media. The "liberal" media controls this, controls that.... Last I read, Fox News pretty much blows the viewership of CNN and MSNBC away. The same goes for radio. The conservatives control radio and with Fox, they have a pretty good hold on TV. Enough with the "liberal" media crap. If Iraqis were dancing in the street greeting troops with bouquets, Fox News would be the first to air it...

14. Follow that up with, "Oh yeah? Prove it!"
We hear a lot of wild figures about people Saddam tortured and killed. But then, we heard a lot of wild figures about WMD, and those all turned out to be horseshit. Do we know for a fact that torture and murder at Abu Ghraib has been any less pervasive than it was under Saddam Hussein, or are we just comparing the cases against the U.S. supported by photographic evidence to the highest WAG numbers under Saddam?

9. Had it out with one of them
because he said it was the Democrats fault for exposing this. I suggested that rationalizing the prisoner treatment was just like the Nazi regime.
His face turned bright red and he kept repeating the talk radio spin - concluding with "Well we can just bomb the crap out of them."

The treatment of the prisoners is bad enough but the reaction of "our fellow citizens" as brainwashed spinmeisters scares me to death. I think our country is sick sick sick.

12. "The liberal media cares more about the Iraqi prisoners..."
This windbaggery makes me absolutely livid. The idea of giving prisoners of war decent treatment is that your own prisoners are likewise entitled to decent treatment.

What ever happened to "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS"? It takes a little more than slapping a flag decal on your bumper.

16. Right, they don't understand that
people are outraged at the abuse for more reasons than just the abused Iraqis themselves. I think people are more upset because of the way these acts reflect upon the US and on our military. People are outraged because they *DO* care about the troops, and they want to know how things could have gotten so out of hand.

The right-wingers just want it to all go away because it reflects very badly on the Chimp-In-Chief, and I suppose they think minimizing the abuse will do the job. It won't; it just makes them look callous and cruel. If THEY actually cared about the troops, I would think they would want to get to the bottom of this scandal also.

15. I long for the day
when the idiotic inflammatory views of people like Limbaugh are not on the air becacuse no one wants to listen to that drivel.

I'm dreaming I guess.

The kind of "thought" that excludes real ideas and reasons. His entire show is the level of frat pranks, that's all he thinks the world is apparently.

They have no shame.
