1. Talk Show Host
The reason I chose this for Dean is because we need someone to speak to the masses, the people who don't follow politics. So many people that talk politics with me have no idea what they are talking about, they need to have someone other than news stations to get there opinions from, they don't know how to research or read on there own.

12. Me too!
During the campaign, I often thought, "This guy should be on TV!"

He's really got the presense for it. And he's intelligent and thoughtful. He could do a lot of good in the media.

2. I voted independant voice...
He burned through 40 million dollars of grass roots donations and didnt win a single state in the run for the nomination. He made his whole campaign, and all his supporters, look foolish, and was turned into a TV soundbite. I don't want him representing the party.

4. I DO Want Him Representing the Party
Although Kerry will probably win, Dean's is the only mainstream voice that has not sounded accomodating to the administration. He an independent and inspiring vision, which Kerry does not -- or at least not communicated. Have you heard Dean's stump speech or town hall meetings? As good as Bill Clinton's.

That $40 mil was spent on a nationwide organization that no other candidate even attempted. And every political consultant knows that the correct way to spend is to exhaust your resources in the first couple of primaries. You don't hold anything back.

7. I don't agree with your synopsis of the Dean candidacy or campaign
Would you rather the Dems stick with our current standard-bearers such as Joe Lieberman or Hillary Clinton to "represent the party"?

Access to low cost or free health care
Access to contraception
End Frist-style health corporations
Elimination of the pharmaceutical corporations' stranglehold ...

Dean would whip some ass.

19. I actually think Health Care was Dean's weakest plank, and I think
it's precisely because he is a doctor. Don't forget the AMA worked to kill Clinton's health plan.

8. I think the corporate media is the real demon that we have to slay
The problem is that they fight back dirty. They can knock out any politician that disses them in the slightest.

9. VP
Dean can round-up those independents. Drum up fundraising and rally the troops. Is the perfect Attack Dog (counterpart to Chenney). And can offset Kerry's dull personality. We need him in November to win

21. Insurgent organizer...
To counter/purge the influence of the DLC from the Democratic Party. Take the party back to it's liberal/labor-oriented roots. Except better because most of the conservative Southern Democrats (w/ the exception of a few like Zell) are gone now-- dead, retired or defected to the Republicans. I rarely vote Dem now, but with new liberal/labor-oriented leadership I might do so more often.

Either that, or he should lead an exit of progressive Democrats to form a third party. That might happen anyway if internal efforts to reform are unsuccessful. The once mighty CIO started as an internal caucus of the AFL until it became clear the AFL was incapable of being reformed.

I know, I know. Doing that will cost the Dems votes, but creating a movement is more important than winning elections in the short-term-- the conservatives understood this-- that's why they're in power. When the CIO split from the AFL, both groups enjoyed sizable growth. The presence of the Progressive Party cost Dems votes in the 20s, but when the Democratic Party finally co-opted their ideas, passion and vision in the 30s, it lead to nearly 60 years of Democratic Party dominance in the House and Senate. Lots of great ideas have come from third parties. There was once a looney, fringe third party known as the Republicans who had this wacky idea to abolish slavery.

I think he could be much more effective in that role, too. Especially if he decides to stick with his newfound leftism.
