What happened to Jesse Jackson?
It seems like ever since a scandal broke about him having a mistress, he's pretty much disappeared. The only high profile thing he's done lately is play into the hands of conservatives by coming out against gay marriage.

Do you think he's being blackmailed about something by the right-wing? Do you think he's retired? Or am I wrong, has he been in the news?

1. I think he deminished his viabiltiy
there is a double standard for Dems. And with an African AMerican Dem, it's even more so. The affair hurt.

2. He's still in there fighting
Here he is at the front of the March 20 protest in Chicago.

Right now, he is quite active in voter registration drives. Just because the media isn't covering him doesn't mean he has walked away.

Election reform rally held in Tallahassee, without Jesse Jackson

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CNN) -- About 1,000 demonstrators gathered for the "Fairness in Democracy Rally" at Florida's state capitol Saturday to call for healing and election reform. Notably absent was the Rev. Jesse Jackson, who was supposed to be a featured speaker.

and, Congressman Coble of NC has a fancy for calling for Rainbow Coalition audits (but, ironically, not of Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell)

he's gotta be from the Jesse Helms school of politics

and, when Democrats since the election coup have been rather spineless and complicit ... the environment isn't "friendly" to any of us ...

I believe he was at the recently held Million Mom March

"The rally was capped off with the sounds of the Ballou High School marching band leading the march down Constitution Avenue. Honorary parade chair Bianca Jagger, Jesse Jackson, and Brady/MMM President Mike Barnes made up the front line and were followed by six blocks of marchers a ... " http://www.mmm2004.com/

4. My impression was
that he was the only one standing up to the * election theft in FLA in 2000. It didn't seem like Gore appreciated it, which is why * was able to continue stealing the election. He probably thinks he tried to help us, but if we don't want his help, then....

5. he was very visable in Inglewood's fight against WalMart
in the first quarter of this year.

Those who matter have forgiven him of his transgression and know that all fall short before the grace of God.
