Forget the torture scandal. This is worse.

Yesterday, the Senate (story at http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/671157.cms) approved a $170 billion (over 10 years) business tax cut bill.

Included in the legislation were some of Bush's highest priorities: elimination of overtime pay and billions in tax breaks for the oil and gas industries.

We have gone from a nation that sings about patriotically paying your taxes to fund a necessary war, to a nation that launches illegal wars then cuts the taxes to pay for them.

Bush is so gone in November.

2. They need constant distractions

Their scandals wear out fairly quickly. Abu Ghraif would burn out in a month or so--look at Valerie Plame's scandal. None of us are talking about that now, right?

So what they need to do is to launch a new scandal about once every two weeks or so to keep us off-guard; by doing so they can avoid our looking at the essential evil that undergirds the Bush Crime Cartel.
