I have been officially banned from wal mart!!!!
While standing in line two repukes were discussing the torture pics, with some contempt i might add. Naturally, having a large mouth which insists on remaining open and flapping I jumped in and said "I know weren't those pics fun?" "What do you mean fun?"
"Well limbaugh said that they were nothing but frat pranks so if he thinks they are funny well then so must i"
Old biddie behind me chimes in "I think that is a terrible thing for a xtian to say"
"Pardon me how do you know im a xtian"
(hold on to your undies now)"well you live in america dont you?" I didnt know that when i moved i was being baptised also.
"im not a xtian im an atheist but if i were a xtian i would be ashamed of the so called xtians in the wh causing all this death and destruction"
"hey pal if you dont like america why dont you leave?"
Its because i do like america that i stay and exercise my constitutional right to question and protest"
Manager suddenly shows up (cashier rang a bell or something)
Sir i must ask you to leave.
Oh? and why is that?
you are causing trouble.
really? i dont see any fights or destruction of property. Oh i see why i have to leave - sorry - i thought the first amendment guaranteed free speech but it seems to have been amended by our god picked president.
So i left.
Oh my lord!! i cant go to wal mart any more!! Where am i going to find a venue of culture now?

Was listed as one of the most philanthropic companies in 2002 and 2003. I used to work there. I met my wife there. Target gives me a smile. ;)

I guess Zellers is pretty close though. Much better quality stuff than Wallymart, and I like their in-store diners.

5. Don't shop WalMart
it exploits their workers and is not a nice corporation. You're better off going to a locally owned store. More likely to get into a real discussion, as well.

Edited on Wed May-12-04 06:26 PM by AZDemDist6
I swore never to darken WalMart's doors again the day I had my 2 pound chihuahua puppy in my purse (she was so cute with just her lil head sticking out watching) and I was told by a teenager I had to "take that animal out of here"

I had carried that puppy into every store in 3 malls while Xmas shopping that year, and had NEVER had any comment except "She's so adorable!! Can I pet her?"

When I asked why in the world she couldn't ride in my purse i was told "We serve food here"

I gladly told the little 17 year old witch I would leave never to return and never have 3 years later

You'll just have to go to Target instead (they have better stuff and cheaper too)

edit to replace "KMart" with "Target" i like target best too

20. Looks like no more $2.99 gallon jars of pickles for you!!!
Further, the money spent by the consumer is not always spent in an effective way. Lower prices lead people to buy more of items they don't need. In the article referenced above, they talk about a gallon jar of pickles that Walmart sold for under three dollars, choking Vlasic. Consumers bought it but didn't use most of the pickles in it...they didn't need that much. So they spent more than they would have to buy the amount they needed, and wasted a lot of food besides. Just because Walmart imparts the illusion of largesse, doesn't mean that its customers really partake in abundance.

25. McDonalds?
You should write Wal-Mart headquarters in Arkansas and explain to them that the majority of the world doesn't think Bush is wonderful and that Christianity is the only true religion. They are severely limiting their markets if they are being so picky. I wouldn't shop there anymore though. I haven't been to Wal-Mart in over a year. I find K-Mart and Target fill the void nicely.

46. May I PLEASE shake your hand?
I am LMAO right now--thank you for sharing this! I've not set foot in any Walmart for about four years now--since our local labor unions ran up against them--and I just LOVE stories that cast Walmart in the light they deserve.

One of the most difficult things I've ever had to do was sit in a property tax appeal hearing with one of our local Walmarts and act like I was not seething with anger the entire time.

You DO realize how they work that--right? They buy prime real estate, frequently with tax incentives to locate there from local government, THEN they find some commercial appraiser to come in and set a property value that is obscenely low so they can drop their property tax liability.

Being a public official is not always easy--lemme tell you. THAT one hearing just about made me blow my cool, and I applaud anyone who can make the Walmart corporation a bit less happy.
