It should be around 90% against 10% for about now.

2. Gee. Not good for an incumbent.
But, then again, is an emperor really an incumbent?

26. There have to be at least 4% who still haven't heard of
torturegate and when they do they will sluff off also. So I figure * is around 40% which is about his "base". He will lose some of his base when Rummy is either fired or resigns (doesn't matter which because they will be seen as the same). So I put Bush at no better then 39% and maybe as low as 35% by mid summer. He will get a modest bump at convention time if all goes well so I expect he will be back up to 40-42% by early September. Kerry will beat Bush by 51 - 41% (Nader will get 10%, mostly out of Bush's hide) and carry at least 350 electoral votes. Well this is what I hope will happen anyway.

4. Just like Poppy about this time in '92?
Not getting too hopeful. They're gonna defrost Osama in October and it will be over.

8. Don't be so sure about that.
I hear so many people say that they're gonna produce Osama as an October surprise.

Maybe so, but I wouldn't assume that this administration has that much control over events on the ground.

21. And we have another terra attack to boost his poll numbers.
They need to have that soon, before his numbers go any lower. If more and more people view him as a failure they may not view him as a savior when the next attack happens. Dare I say it, the truth may dawn on some of them. If they have it now, before he sinks any lower (in the polls, otherwise he can't sink lower) it could have a beneficial effect for him in the polls. At very least they can use it to further limit civil liberties and the press to put an end to all this almost accurate reporting.

22. I'm assuming -
the October surprise will be gas prices back down to $2.00 a gallon from about $4.50 or $5.00.

I'm also hoping gas prices don't get that bad. I'm hoping I'll win the Lotto, too. I don't hold much stock in my hopes these days.

23. Matthew Dowd
Matthew Dowd, Bush's own poll watcher said that the approval rating is the number to watch not the head to head. Well they can't be enjoying these numbers.

17. Even if they do, Bush seems to have an infinite capacity
to screw up everything he does, so he likely will screw that up too.

5. a famous general, facing a charge by an overwhelming foe...
...ordered his valet to bring him his red pants.

"Why the red pants, sir?" asked the valet.

The general replied, "so the men won't see me bleed-- and falter themselves-- if I'm wounded in battle."

Karl Rove must be ordering up his brown pants today....

That, coupled with the lies and torturegate will sink Bush, imo.

Seems like an awfully small group. But then again, I know little about polling, which is why I'm suspicious of it.

28. the old random sample
actually it's supposed to be very scientific...couldn't stand stats class in college, so I'm no help. I do know that the asking "likely voters" is the way to go for accuracy.
