I just heard another Bush apologist say this once again. We are different from those dictatorships because we make this embarrassing information public...??

But, it was not going to be made public, until Sy Hersh made it public. It was being kept totally secret. Just 36 hours before it was made public, Rumsfeld and Myers were before the Senate committee and they never made a peep. They were going to keep it secret forever if they could. They had no intent to make it public - just like the dictatorships they profess to loathe....

I say now who do, who do they think they're foolin'? Those photos were from December and January, fer crissakes. If the photos hadn't come out at the end of April (three or four months later), would we know about it even now?

In fact, the administration kept CBS and Hersh from going public for a crucial extra few hours so that their lawyers could argue to the Supreme Court that they weren't mistreating anyone anywhere anent the Guantanamo prisoners. How different would that oral argument have been if those photos had been in the public domain that day?
