To all those who are Dissing Kerry, Sit down and Shut up!
Yeah, I said it.

All those magazines and all those haters saying Kerry can't win, and that he should be up by 50 pts and all that crap.

John Kerry is going to win in a landslide. All those DUMP KERRY BS will be just that....BS.

I still pray every night for Kerry. This is a true man of character and heart. He will finally bring back, since it vanished four years ago, honor and dignity to the highest office in the land.

13. Since when does "independent thinking"
Edited on Wed May-12-04 04:02 PM by sangh0
mean "mindlessly repeating Repuke slogans"?

And if you don't march in lockstep, then why do you so many of the Kerry-bashers complain about the same things, using the same words and phrases, such as "march in lockstep"?

21. I guess you can't answer those two simple questions
A question is NOT an answer to a question. If you expect me to answer your questions, you should perform the same courtesy for me. A discussion is not a one-way dealie.

1) Since when does "independent thinking" mean "mindlessly repeating Repuke slogans"?

2) And if you don't march in lockstep, then why do you so many of the Kerry-bashers complain about the same things, using the same words and phrases, such as "march in lockstep"?

23. I did not bother to answer because I have seen
past conduct where the insults start flying and
the dustup begins and somebody walks away snickering
because they pushed somebody's buttons.

I don't go for that kind of crap. I have the memory
of an elephant, and I remember that I wasted my time
last time.

I won't make that mistake again.

53. I brought up the term "mindless", as I recall
I think I used it in conjunction with the word "automaton". And I'll be glad to answer your questions.

1. Independent thinking never has meant the mindless repetition of Republican slogans. Where would you get such an idea?

2. Since I don't march in lockstep, how the hell would I know why Kerry-bashers complain about the same things? Your question is sort of fucked up by definition, if directed toward someone who doesn't "march in lockstep". See how it goes in circles?

Now, I'll hazard a guess at an answer to #2. I'd say that human nature dictates that when told to sit down and shut up, most people with an IQ higher than that of a house plant get their backs up and feel like telling the speaker where he/she can get off. As to your unspoken but obvious veiled accusation that "Kerry-bashers" are Republican plants of one sort or another, you may be right in a few, isolated cases. You would, however, be dead wrong in assuming that anyone who insists on the right to criticize Kerry is a Republican plant.

I find it ironic that I've spent more time on this board defending my right to criticize the presumed nominee than I have actually criticizing him. It seems like every couple of weeks, you have to stop and answer the god-damned attempted Nazi pogroms that want to get everyone marching in lockstep, freeper-style, no dissent. FUCK THAT NOISE.

Do you have a clear answer to your two questions now, at least from my perspective?

as far as Im concerned, these people only want to undermine
John Kerry any way they can. Proping up GOP agents like Ralph Nader, and trying to cause breaks in the ranks of the Dems.

They want to spew pessimism and try to make other democrats feel no hope in the coming elections.

THAT, SIR, IS OBJECTIONABLE.

17. I think Kerry....
... will win this race easily. I think he'll win it by a big enough margin that BBV, rigged absentee ballots, and the other forms of subterfuge that have been employed in the past will not swing the race to Bush*.

There is nothing on the horizon that is going to suddenly change for the better and validate Bush*. His news is all downhill from here, the economy, the war, you name it.

I would pay good money to see the look on his face when he finds that God is not going to bail him out of this one, and that God helps those who help themselves.

18. To anyone who posts BS like that at DU, I ask...
...WHY ARE YOU HERE?

Keep in mind that the entire purpose of this very website is to GET RID OF BUSH. That's it. I cannot for the life of me understand why DUers in good standing would do anything to undermine the campaign of the one person in the USA who is in a position to send Bush back to Texas.

So he's not perfect. BIG DEAL. There is no such thing as a perfect candidate. If there was, we sure didn't pick him, so it's moot.

So he voted for the goddam Iraq war resolution. BIG DEAL. Bush abused the war resolution. If it were me, I would have voted NO. Most Senators prefer to give the President the benefit of the doubt, and slam him later for fucking up. That's the way it is.

So he goes to church on Sunday, takes communion in spite of certain bishops instead of quitting the RCC in protest, has a rich wife, gave an overly mushy response to the ribbon vs medals thing, and on and on and on. BIG DEAL.

We have to be united on this, or we're sunk. I don't want another four years of Bush and Company, and I don't think you do either. So, as Ari Fleischer once said, watch what you say in public and keep the anti-Kerry bullshit out of the forums. Trust me; we'll be WAY better off with someone intelligent in the WH, even if he doesn't subscribe to 100% of the liberal/progressive agenda.

I understand what your saying but the negative, nasty jibes aren't going to influence anyone to stand by Kerry. We'd be better off if when someone makes a cutting statement about Kerry that we ask them to back it up with facts. If it is a complaint about how Kerry views something suggest that they write a letter to Kerry explaining their views.- (If you don't go to the source with your complaint then it can't be that bad.)

60. Sometimes the most meaningful words . . .
Are kept to ourselves.

Complaining, criticizing, and saying negative things about Kerry might make us all feel better. We got to vent. How nice. We feel free. We are exercising our liberty on a smart message board.

Does our venting make Kerry's staff take notice of what Kerry needs to do next to keep committed Democratic voters happy? A wise man once said that it is not complaining if you take up your problem with someone who can do something about it. Perhaps it would be more productive to send private emails to Kerry's group instead.

When we put our words out there, we must be willing to take the responsibility for them. That includes the risk of shrubbie winning because our bitching dissuaded a voter. Are we willing to take the risk of putting shrubbie in office another four years? Are we willing to take responsibility for the additional Iraqi and American lives that will be lost if shrubbie gets elected again?

Are we willing to look the grieving moms in the eye and say, "I had to bitch about Kerry. You understand."

We don't have to support Kerry. There are other alternatives. Ooooo yummy tasty.

Your words are powerful. Be careful, not stupid.

48. I'm coming in a little late here
But I so agree with you. There are a bunch of people here who have responded to you about not marching in lockstep, calling a fuck up a fuck up or whatever. And to those I say, keep it up, and you WILL have shrubito for another four years. And we all know we will travel to hell in a handbasket, a repukian handbasket. If I'm going to hell, I would rather it be with a Democrat.

Better wise up and get a clue. Keep this divisiveness and you will be playing right into the neocons' hands. They will laugh at us for being so stupid, one and all, and I can't say I would blame them.

63. Herding Cats 101: When attempting to herd cats, it is best not to issue
direct commands in a loud voice. Offering a large bowl of milk is a far more effective approach when herding cats.

65. "sit down and shut up": always a great rallying cry, sure to attract
millions to your cause. not.

i always figure anyone who has to tell another party to a discussion to "shut up" has obviously already lost the argument.

regarding kerry's campaign, with supporters like you...

68. Pardon me while I
STAND UP AND SCREAM WHATEVER IS ON MY MIND!

I don't feel the need to "dis" Kerry. I respect him. When I "dis"agree with him on something, a different sort of "dissing," I'm going to say something. And I'm going to try to say it in a constructive fashion.

But when I hear someone say "sit down and shut up," I'm going to stand up, stand closer, and say whatever I have to say loud enough for the county to hear. Because I don't wilt in the face of the kind of disrespect it takes to tell someone to "sit down and shut up."
