The only thing that annoys me about Randi Rhodes..

It seems like at least once a show, she'll completely misinterpret something a caller said, a caller who's agreeing with her, and she'll turn it into an argument. Has anyone else noticed this?

It's outweighed by all her good attributes, but I wish she wouldn't jump on the parenthetical introduction to a caller's comment, but let them get their whole comment out.

4. I have noticed it a couple times.

People do that because instead of listening closely to what is being said, their minds are already racing to put together the response, so they miss a key detail, and that's all it takes to reverse the meaning. As a part of my counseling training, I was taught listening skills, and that is one thing I had to work on! It may sound easy, but it is actually hard to NOT think ahead instead of devoting your attention to listening!

It seems that the longer Air America goes on, the more frazzled she's gotten because of the increase in phone calls she has to wade through. She is truly nationwide now, and that's a big adjustment.

But I get the feeling the last person she wants to talk to is someone talking about something she doesnt have an opinion on yet.

She assumes that every caller is calling to hear her opinion on a topic. This isnt bad per se, its her style, but with Air America, alot of the callers are trying to get thier own opinions and points across. Basically if you arent someone who looks to Randi for answers, theres no point in calling her.

She has been quite clear that she isnt aiming for educated progressives. Her target audience is people who will be engaged by her unique style and approach that arent engaged by democratic underground, or the other outlets and sources that we all have been using.

I enjoy her show in moderation, but when I listen I know Im not the person she is trying to reach.

I recall her saying early on that she only worked alone, and now there's this constant moronic laughter at after every word she says.

But, no show is going to be for everyone. This isnt about Randi's personal ego. Its about her show, its format and its style. Listen to alot of talk radio, the strong host with generally supporting people around them is a very common radio structure. I dont see any reason to make a personal comment about her when clearly this is just the way she runs her show and it has been pretty successful.
