Public doesn't blame WH for high gasoline prices?
WTF is that all about? You mean they don't blame Bush policies and his relationships with oil companies and the Saudis for what is happening with gasoline prices right now? You mean they are not crying for Bush to open up the oil reserves? You mean they are blaming Clinton or Saddam--both of whom are out of office now? Who then do they blame?
You would think with the huge tax breaks for corporations and oil companies just passed by the Republican Congress and the tax cuts they already received, that there might be some relief for the public...but NOoooooooooooo! I guess the invasion of Iraq was not Bush's fault either. Remember, Bush even called it a 'war that was thrust upon us.' He's right..it's just that it was 'thrust upon us' by his regime.
What kind of public do we have? It's really scary. I tell you, we are in deeeeeeeeeeeeeep doo doo!

1. Keith..you're a riot
you post the most inane posts at DU... You always title your thread in what appears to be some kind of fact and then when I click on your thread, there's no corroborating evidence of your er...supposed fact.

Dude... How the fuck do you know that the public doesn't blame Bush?

2. Judy Woodruff just pulled that 'factoid' out of her ass...
with NO supporting evidence, I might add.

I did a double take, myself, when I heard her say that.

11. Why do I have to prove everything I say?
Am I less than the leaders of this great nation? Do they prove everything they say? Anything they say?

Why do you need a link to an observation? Get off my back. I don't bother you, so don't get me started.

4. I don't know who to blame but we must remember GWB takes credit
for everything that goes well but blame for nothing that goes badly. Actually, high gas prices mean much higher profits for the oil companies, so surely this is good in the eyes of those from the oil patch: maybe he does take credit.

Gas prices rigged, consumer groups find

Extra cost to household pegged at $1,400 a year

Two consumer groups say U.S. petroleum companies are to blame for record high gas prices, which will continue to increase for the summer driving season.

A study by the Consumer Federation of America and Consumers Union released Tuesday fingers a consolidated domestic oil industry, claiming the industry engineered $250 billion worth of price hikes since 2000 that let it pocket up to $80 billion in windfall profits. Those price increases added $1,400 to each household's yearly bill for gasoline, natural gas and heating oil.

"There is not enough competition in the oil industry to put downward pressure on prices," Consumers Union analyst Adam Goldberg said, pointing to mergers that have reduced 34 oil companies to 15 and 15 oil refinery firms to seven during the last decade.

Federation research chief Mark Cooper said the resulting price increases were about padding the corporate bottom line.

5. What kind of public does Imperial Amerika have?
Something like the Soviets circa 1930 or the Germans circa 1933.

HOW MUCH ALIKE is the only question yet remaining.

For that answer...stay tuned.

10. Not one word from media about the excess profits of Exxon-Mobil, et al.
Exxon Mobil Corp. posted a $5.44-billion profit as record U.S. gasoline prices resulted in the highest first-quarter refining earnings in 13 years, reported Bloomberg.

"Earnings on the refining and marketing side of the business were significantly above expectations," said Tim Ghriskey, chief investment officer at Solaris Asset Management, which holds an undisclosed number of Exxon shares among its $650 million in assets. "Anybody who goes to the gas pump these days shouldn't be surprised."

Exxon is forecast to report gains in second and third-quarter earnings as energy prices remain high.
