Parents agonize over their son missing in Iraq

Nick Berg, 26, owns a business called Prometheus Methods Tower Service Inc. He climbs communications towers to inspect the antennas, the electrical connections and the structure.

But when he returned to Iraq on March 14, the company had no work, so Berg began traveling and networking and found some.

He usually called home once a day and e-mailed several times; Michael Berg is his business manager, and they needed to stay in touch.

The Bergs heard from their son on April 6, 7, 8 and 9. He said he would come home through Jordan, Turkey or Kuwait, whatever looked safest and most feasible.

and I started receiving threatening communications and/or they contacted MY boss, I'd be on the phone to my attorney asking my attorney to initiate action to sue the ever-lovin' shit out of these clowns.

4. It reminds me of a witch hunt.

They are telling on people who may have nothing to do with any group except their name on a list like me. I thought I put my name on the "not in my name" list but I couldn't find it with the link given on the FR thread. What that person is doing is very scary. Didn't they do things like what they're doing in Germany? You know, where the citizens ratted others out who were against the Nazi party line?

Before extremists apparently kidnapped and killed him, authorities detained Berg in Iraq for as long as two weeks in late March and early April.

His parents said they did not hear from him between March 24 and April 9.

An American civilian who was beheaded in Iraq had been visited three times by FBI agents while in the custody of Iraqi police, but he was never held by U.S. forces, contrary to claims by his family, U.S. officials in Baghdad said today.

The family of Nicholas Berg, 26, of West Chester, Pa., continued to insist today, however, that he had been had been held for 13 days by U.S. authorities in Iraq, a detention that family members said caused him to miss a scheduled departure from Iraq. Shortly after he was released, Berg was apparently captured by Islamic extremists.
