BBV: Texas & Kansas Democrats, need your help
I've read short bios on R. Doug Lewis, head of The Election Center, that say he's been an Executive Director of both the Texas and Kansas Democratic parties.

One small problem- Texas doesn't remember him. People going back to the 1980 don't remember him.

One possibility- he was ED for Harris County, if that position exists.

Would like to verify this information if possible.

This might pre-date data bases, unless someone did some archiving.

Any help appreciated!

Lewis heads up the mysterious Election Center, controller of voting machine certification and head instructor of election officials in the art of promoting non-verifiable, paperless elections.

Oh, and this guy gives testimony as an "expert," before Congress and many panels. An expert who has a questionable background, heading up a questionable organization, involved in getting the ITAA to lobby and taking "donations" from vendors like Sequoia.

1. Hi RedEagle!
I am in Topeka and I did a long search for R Doug Lewis about a year ago I think. I have many friends who are big in the state party and one who held the position that Lewis claims to have held. No one had ever heard of him from the Governor to active dems from all areas of the state whom I could contact. I don't have a list for you or I would send it, I did most of the research on foot and face to face whenever I chanced on a meeting. This guys credentials seem to be entirely made up.

2. Sounds like a Bushevik Operative to me
Keep digging!

A :kick: for the brave and dedicated patriots who do BBV Stuff.

My guess is that in the afterlife, you will get seats in the Red Dragon Inn with the Founding Fathers.

3. During the early days of BBV research, R. Doug Lewis
research threads always gave me the willies. This guy has been affecting our elections from the "shadow government" side of things for way too long.

I think it's time we did some serious blast-emailing to our congresscritters about what we've uncovered about him. His whole <lack of> credibility rests on his own self-promotion and his ties to back boxes.

4. Did anyone ever find out
what president he was supposedly working for during some unspecified time? Nothing he has ever said can be confirmed and he seems to hold a lot of power. To me this guy is a real scary problem. I was concerned when asking about him that some of the answers I was getting were bullshit but could never confirm anything. Brick walls.

5. Great Guys, Keep it up, and- THANKS!
Lewis has made a lot of claims.

He worked for an oil firm at some time.

He worked for John Connelly (appologies to Texans if I butchered that spelling)

Connelly would be connected to LBJ who, of course, knew a few things about stuffing a ballot box.

And yes, supposedly for some presidents but who?

And just who started The Election Center? We can be pretty sure it wasn't just Lewis. Wouldn't seem to have the funding to do it. I seem to recall some initial Ford Foundation funding, but not sure about that.

Yes, Congress should be tearing down the walls of this little institution. It exercises way to much power over our whole electoral process. And our FEC just goes along with it.

6. but isn't this thing on the way out?
I thought with the new EAC set up in DC, this Election Center thingee (I would call it a front) was going to be either preempted or deemphasized.

Election Center office in Houston is 1000 square feet, by the way.

The value of its property (desks, computers, whatever) subject to property tax was:

Old value: Total Value : 4,970 Change: -4,970 New value: 0

(PS I think Doug Lewis is so embedded with the vendors, if somebody doesn't turn him quick he'll get bedsores.)

7. I think who does what is all up in the air
And I do believe The Election Center and it's subsidiaries- NASED and NASS, have a lot of influence in the commissions set up by HAVA.

I don't think Doug's out of it at all unless that relationship gets too uncomfortable for some.

9. Hmmm, maybe CIA? They have a history of messing with
elections.

Maybe it's a fictitious identity, you know, deep undercover agent. Or something like that.

I've always felt a chill run downmy spine when someone mentions his name and how they can't find out anything about him.

10. Lewis claimed to work as manager of political affairs for John Connally
But if he did that, he did that, it may have been under the name Lewis Bryan or Bryan Lewis.

Connally had some interesting connections.

www.salon.com/news/feature/2004/04/27/james_bath/print.html

Question is, are R. Doug Lewis and Lewis Bryan or Bryan Lewis the same person?

And where does the Kansas claim fit in?

11. That's the point, exactly.....who in the hell IS this guy?
I'd like to see one of our more liberal Senators start an investigation of his workings in the BBV areas. His lack of resume stinks to high heavens.
