1. And the plot thickens
even furhter, now what bugs me is that this story cannot be
cofirmed, but that is what is so lovely about it.

Lets assume he is dead... we would know about it, not really

Lests assume he is alive, same scenario

This is what is so maddening about this whole thing and it has oh so
many inconsistencies

2. He's just another one of Schroedinger's Terrorists
You know, like Osama -- both dead and alive until the wave function collapses.

3. Zarqawi had an artificial leg?!
"It said al-Zarqawi was unable to escape the bombing because of his artificial leg."

Did anyone who saw the Berg decapitation video notice anyone who might have had an artificial leg in it?

5. Just LAST MONTH, the story changed!
Molly Ivins, April 13:

Note the interesting little factoids that are being dribbled out as everyone's attention is riveted on the larger slippage in Iraq. Apparently in the spirit of the British civil servant who put out a memo on Sept. 11 advising all departments that today would be a good day to unload any bad news lying around, we now learn that Abu Musad al Zarqawi has two legs.

This will not strike you as a stop-the-presses moment unless you remember that al Zarqawi was one of Osama bin Laden's Number Two men (we seem to have captured several "Number Two" men already, with more still out there.) Pre-war, the administration claimed the reason it was so certain Saddam Hussein had ties to Al Qaeda was that Zarqawi had gone to Baghdad to get his leg amputated. But now, oops, he has two.

The timing just a little suspicious, maybe?

6. Wow, that's weird.
The link in the original post, from March, claims Zarqawi must have been killed a year ago because he'd have had a hard time escaping the bomb sent to kill him when Baghdad fell. But an MSNBC story from mid-March asserted with certainty that Zarqawi escaped that bomb. I also have vague memories of the US allowing Zarqawi's group to flee Northern Iraq just before the war started.

7. Where is von Stauffenberg Now That We Need Him?

Heh... I still think that would make a great bumpersticker (with a picture of Shrubya next to the caption) ... even if it WOULD mean I'd get pulled over by the Secret Service EVERY time I went out to the store...
