I'm finally there, about as far as I can go with this thing after listening to Congressman John Murtha on Chris Mattews' show last night and Joe Wilson this morning on Fresh Air. Murtha was talking about how poorly planned the post invasion strategy has been, doing it all on the cheap where in fact we've needed 7 times the number of boots on the ground. We're already at a 2 to 1 ratio of reserves to active duty troops, when that number should be 3 to 1.

Murtha supported the war.

Joe Wilson, of course, was talking about the leaking of his wife's CIA identity by the Administration in retaliation for him exposing the fabricated 16 words in President Bush's State of the Union pretext for the invasion of Iraq. Apparently he's hardened his characterization to "retaliation" (from his previous speculation that it was proffered as a deterent) due to other administration officials coming out and declaring that it was indeed done to retaliate.

And you conservatives call us traitors. Can there be a more heinous traitorous act than leaking the identity of an active CIA agent? Why aren't you all just utterly outraged by this patently criminal act which goes all the way up to Scooter Libby? This is unprecedented. Is this any way for our government to behave?

All 20, give or take, signers of the PNAC letter, that are currently in the administration, should be censured and forced to resign in disgrace. Radical Nationalism is a fantasy, of the same fabric as the fantasy that we could have won the Vietnam War (if only we had another 9 years and 55,000 lives to fight it). We don't have the resources to take over the world this way. We are stretched too thin. It isn't realistic. It isn't sustainable. We've squandered our critical role as the leader of the free world. And it is no consolation that we've lost only about 700 troops so far, because the casualty list is over 11,000.

Remember, military medicine has improved rapidly. But don't think that a good many of those 11,000 casualties have paid a huge price by never being quite the same as they once were.

3. Yesterday I was looking at the national debt

numbers. These figures I compiled show the percentage increase of the national debt by each president over where it was when he came into office.
Other that WW1, Depression and WW2, look at Nixon, Reagan/Bush terms. It is clear that this PNAC crowd in charge now are getting rich on the backs of the taxpayers. The question is, how can we fix it?
