Should I get on a plane to "look for" work in Iraq?

How do I book the flight? Who do I need permission (clearance from)?
Where do I go to fill out an application or present my service capabilites to once I'm there?

I know people are sick of tinfoil theories but does any of this make sense? Wouldn't someone looking for work go to one of the companies with a contract and get work through them? What am I missing?

2. Well, supposedly Mr. Berg

Was a small, independent contractor, looking for work for himself. There are many of these sort running around Iraq right now, the State Dept. among others have encouraged these folks to go on over. I heard a piece about this a few weeks ago on NPR. They interviewed another small independent contractor who was looking to get a slice of the Iraqi business pie. Apparently he wandered around the country in vain, as Haliburton and the other members of Team Bush had pretty well sewn up all the big time contracts and most of the little ones too.

Sounds like this is the same scenario that Mr. Berg was seeing, with about as equally good results.

11. I get e-mails every day

telling about the newest government training seminar that will help me, as a contractor, get my slice of the Iraqi pie. I have never actually opened and read one of them. But, I gather that the government is regularly "training" people in how to get work over there.

4. Apparently this guy bought into the Bush line about Iraq.

He allowed the RW media brain washing to seep in and figured he would like to help prove the Bush's right and the rest of the world wrong. If he had any kind of clue what reality was in Iraq he would have stayed home. Either that or he was just plain crazy. Kind of hard to tell the difference though.

Yes.

Book the flight to Kuwait or Jordan (probably cheaper) and head in overland. I don't even think you need a visa.
