Do you believe Bush* would have received as many votes without
Colin Powell? IMHO it was because he chose Powell as his Secretary of State that as many people as did voted for him. I am pretty darn sure Powell will not be part of the team this time around. Will that effect many moderate voters? I think Powell was the main reason many people pulled the lever for Bush*. I doubt those same people will pull that lever again. I don't believe Powell to be the man that the Media has made him out to be but that is irrelevant. Most people believe him to be a wise and caring man. I think if Powell jumps ship then Bush* loses "Big Time".

1. Depends on when he does it.
I suspect that throughout the campaign, President Bush will say, "I think Colin Powell is a wise and just man, and I want him as part of my team during my second term." And Colin Powell will say, "I am proud to serve at the pleasure of the President and happy to do so as long as he needs me." Then about 10 minutes after teh election (in the unlikely event that Bush wins a second term), they will announce that he is retiring.

2. I believe he has said no to a second round. Signs point to this.

5. Well that's what I think too
I'm just saying they don't want to make the announcement until after the election if they can avoid it. Or else tehy would already have announced it in my opinion. Anytime between now and November, people are going to ask, "Well, why is he leaving?"

7. I believe he had announced some time ago there would be no 2nd term.
I suspect he finally figured it out, he and Condi are window dressing to color the Administration.

3. True. It lulled moderate Repubs into thinking there would be a place
at the table for them.

Powell alsways gets trotted out for show like that.

4. Bush squeezed out any credibility Powell had
used him for the election, used him for the war. Powell has nothing left to offer, all used up.

6. Well, I believe that the choice of vice-president
essentially doesn't affect the votes for president (as I always disclaim , "Unless it's Hitler").
