What is it going to take for our war criminals to be tried in the Hague?
Edited on Wed May-12-04 04:24 AM by Cascadian
I can only imagine nothing better than to see Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and the rest who have their hands bloodied by this to be flown to the Netherlands with ankles and hands shackeled and brought to the World Court. What will it take for the world to bring these people to the Hague? These people should not get awy with the chaos and bloodshed they helped create.

I have to ask to anybody how can this be done and what can we do?

To not have these people sent to the World Court would be a mockery of justice. Pressure must be brought to bare on the U.S. to get these people once Bush's term is up.

3. BushCo..................
doesn't play by the rules. Anyone's rules. Do you actually think they'd submit to a trial at the Hague? Not a chance, they're immunre from international law, at least in their mind's eye.

5. the court in the Hague was minimized from the
get go by this mis-adminstration. I wonder why. I've a friend that normally gets a kick out of everything. He said, "It'll take massive numbers of people starving on the streets to signal a change." I hope he's wrong on this one. I just keep tirelessly writing e-mail to every politician, pundit, and plutocrat I can think of about BBV's. . . and I' ve had some results, yet in truth I know that we've been an oligarchy since the Industrial Revolution. I'm more sorrowful for this country than I can ever remember. . .

6. The guts of a US president (dem or rep) to sign on to ICC
And when you have your pen out you might as well want to sign the kyoto protocol and convince the congress to ratify the CTBT (Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty).

21. The Hague is a "Court of Last Resort".

What that means is that they exist to prosecute crimes that are not prosecuted within the respective nations. After all, what nation would surrender its sovereignty? As long as such crimes are prosecuted within the signatory nations, the Hague stays out of it. (Since Heads of State never prosecute themselves, they wind up at the Hague.)

9. Spine. Intestinal fortitude. A willingness to admit the US was wrong.
Character. Integrity. Accepting that America isn't above the law.
..and a deep desire for change.. to bring America out of it's comfy niche of self-denial

and that's just from our "leaders"

the people have to be willing to be responsible for their government...
