It is going to take two terms for Kerry to clean up Bush mess.
Edited on Wed May-12-04 03:33 AM by Cascadian
I do not think that John Kerry is going to be able to undo the damage that has been done domestically and internationally in just one term. It is going to take two terms to regain any credibility that America has lost. It will take two terms (maybe more!) to undo the huge debt that the Bush Crime Family has created. It will take two terms to reinstate the environmental protection laws that Bush has slashed. It will take two terms for people to be able to get good jobs if any. So much damage in four years has been done that it is going to be a while for Kerry or anybody to repair the wreck that America has become.

Another factor too. Kerry will have a heckuva time with a Republican Congress. I can only hope the Senate can be brought back into Democratic hands. That would be a good start.

What will it take for those dittoheads to finally wake up and realize they are being screwed too? They are going to have to come out of the ether sometime.

1. If he does it right, he won't get two terms.
They'll knock him out after one.

3. You are right
but I fear that Kerry would have more to contend with than just the Freepers, Dittoheads and other conservative white men. I don't see the far Left cutting him very much slack, and if he's getting slammed from both sides, his presidency is going to end up like LBJ's or Carter's. I think Kerry would do well to remind people from Day One that the war in Iraq is, and always will be George W. Bush's war, even if it drags on well into the Kerry presidency.

4. I will vote for him and while I hope he will beat Bush.....
you are correct. I am left of center and I will call Kerry bullshit if he does anything I do not agree with and I will praise him he does something I do agree with. I am not going to go in lock-step with things I do not agree with.

9. No, the Uber-Left will not be easy on him...
In addition to Gush Pfleghmball blaring out hate every day, we'll have the constant vocal reminders that "Kerry's not Dennis (or Ralph)"...

The DLC has to go, too. That's why I feel my butthole pucker every time I hear "Bayh for VEEP" floated out to the sheeple....Even Mike Savage(Wiener) would be happy over that choice.

10. I hope there is a power struggle between now and after the election
The DLC is a cancer in the party. The forces who support Dean and Kucinich MUST unite to get the party back from the sheepish Repub Lite types. What good is a democracy if you do not have opposition instead of this Lieberman "we need to reach out across party lines." That stuff just doesn't wash anymore. The Democratic Party should become the people's party again as opposed to one bought by multinationals.

12. A generation ago, "reaching out" worked.
Now, in post-Newt DC, you reach out across the aisle, and they'll grab you and hold you while another ReTHUG goes for your wallet.

5. I do not believe Kerry will get 2 terms.
If he does what should be done to set this country right, people will get mad and not vote another term. And if he doesn't do what should be done, there is no reason why he should get another term.

6. It might take two terms for Kucinich (with luck),
but it'll take a lot more years for anything that Kerry is likely to set in motion.

The first step is to toss that self-annointed Warlord from Crawford OUT on his ass. But defeating the DLC mindset will have to come next.

8. You must think he's Superman.
It's gonna take 2 terms of Kerry, 2 terms of a yet-to-be-named VEEP and maybe a term and a half of Hillary to straighten this shit out.

The ReTHUGlican Party must be dismantled, the fascists Neo-Cons purged, PNAC outlawed.
THEN, things might start to look up.
