Was Nick Berg a Muslim Convert?

I am asking the question because of the beard and the unclear answer to JUST WHAT he was doing in Iraq?

Was he another wannabe jihadi?

Did this lead him into a trap?

I still have some MAJOR questions about the video release... and that's not conspiracy folks...
