Isn't it obvious to you DINOs that Berg was deep cover CIA?
Edited on Tue May-11-04 10:48 PM by troublemaker
He was "widely traveled" in the Middle East. He had a cover (inspecting transmission towers) that provided perfect cover for wide ranging trips in Iraq. The Iraqis arrest him, realize their error and he's turned over to the US. The CIA springs him, but not before he makes contacts in prison, posing as an idealistic US Muslim convert and jihadist wannabe. Out of prison he hooks up with a group--referred by people he met in prison--but they smell bacon and execute him for his trouble, dumping his decapitated body somewhere. After the body is found, the CIA puts together a grainy little video play of a guy that doesn't even look much like Berg, in order to release it and maximize the political value of his murder. Probably because he was a CIA asset, they figure he would appreciate his death being used to further agency psy-ops.*
____________

* Everything above is complete bullshit, but it's better than some of this crap flying around here. Note how clever the CIA was to infiltrate an Iraqi terror group with an American Jew traveling under his own name. Betcha' didn't see that coming! That's the kicker... they knew the CIA wouldn't be that stupid. Stupid like a Fox, baby! It's the last thing those Iraqis would expect! Don't you get it? Fine. Enjoy your corporate media head-trip, you brain-washed DLC whores! You too, Mom. I hate you! I've always hated you! You never listen. Dad left because of YOU.

19. Disturbing linkage
This Bacon figure has tentacles everywhere. It's time he paid for his involvement in Titanic, to say nothing of Footloose.

6. This is slightly believable
Good job!

The problem is, it almost doesn't matter who killed him. The fact is, Mr. Berg is no less dead.

7. Then maybe you can explain what the hell is going on to me
I wrote this in an earlier thread, a summary of the various points found in news articles by tinoire

Nick Berg, son of antiwar activist Micheal Berg, goes to Iraq claiming to look for work. He is doesn't do any work, and begins travelling Iraq. The US military picks him up to figure out what he's doing in Iraq, and illegally interrogates him for weeks. After his parents threaten a lawsuit they release him and insist he return home, but don't let him use Baghdad airport. Right after he is released he is picked up by European looking arabs, and executed with him still wearing his prison jumpsuit.

Doesn't this seem odd to you? His parents sure seem pissed off about the governments role in his death, are they just nutjobs too?

9. In fairness
It is odd. It's a weird story and I'll be just as interested as anyone to see how it all turns out, but I am willing to *assume* he wasn't beheaded by American agents unless there's a reason to make a different assumption. I put almost nothing past Bush&co, but that's not the same as automatically attributing every bad thing to them unless proved otherwise.

16. Some might think...
Edited on Tue May-11-04 11:53 PM by w13rd0
...that Bush and bin Laden work for the same moneymen. They kill in the name of the same God, regardless what they call him. They certainly seem to have enough business ties to the same group of people. Didn't have to be "American agents" for something to smell fishy in Denmark.

ON EDIT: Or maybe I'm just skeptical because never before has one incompetent man and his group of shameless cronies so profitted and benefitted from tragedy after atrocity and mistake after fuck-up. And STILL no one loses their job.

17. Perhaps you failed to notice that Berg spoke to his family from his hotel
Edited on Wed May-12-04 12:19 AM by bumbler
after being released. Has anyone ever seen a picture of such clothing being worn by prisoners in Iraq? Has anyone ever heard of prisons anywhere releasing people still dressed in prison garb? Who told you that the orange clothing was a "prison jumpsuit" and why were you so gullible as to believe that bit of disinformation. You're probably better off wondering about the strangeness of the story you were being told than accepting these lies as fact and wondering about the strangeness of the illusion they are so energetically concocting. Who would want you top believe such a silly, undocumented notion, and why?

Of course, maybe he got one from inside his secret cache of CIA toys, then went wandering around Baghdad wearing it to establish sympathy with the gangs of the region and in order to establish street creds.

The idea that he was just the latest in a series of victims of this vile war is certainly much too obvious to be true.

18. I didn't need to be told it was a prison jumpsuit
Because I've seen the pictures of it. If you had bothered to follow the link I gave you, you would have seen the sources I pulled that information from. It was mainly the AP, a bunch of conspiracy theorists there. I guess you were too busy thinking of ways to be condescending instead. Since I never said that he was a CIA agent, nor claimed that he was killed by the US government, I assume you view me as a composite of every single person you disagree with about his murder. Kind of an assholish way of arguing if you ask me. I didn't know that he called his parents from his room, that actually is a helpful piece of knowledge, unlike everything which came after it. I had thought they just released him from jail without his belongings in a dangerous location and he had been captured then killed, but apparently I was wrong. Maybe his capturers dressed him that way, but all the pictures I found of hostages are still wearing the clothes they were captured in, so I assumed they captured him dressed like that.

14. As much as I hate
to admit it, I thought that he might be CIA too. It's just too many holes in the story for someone to go over and "work on antennas." I think IF this is true, then he was made an example out of by the guys who killed him, no doubt. Maybe I've been watching too much Alias and 24.

Still very sad no matter if he was just a hometown guy looking for adventure or something else...just so sad and my heart breaks for his parents.

15. PS It was a dummy
There's a fast developing theory here that the 'terrorists' decapitated a dummy of Berg in the video. If so, it seems likely that Berg was unfortunately, at precisely that moment, attempting to escape by hiding inside the selfsame dummy. D'oh!

20. Oh, c'mon!
It's so obvious he was a Mossad agent caught trying to plant WMD's! Then the CIA is suspicious and grill him, and figure out what he is up to. So they let him go, with the understanding that he is going to make contact with some al-Qaida group and sell them some damning but harmless shit then tip off the CIA for the big sting.

Unfortunately, his cover is blown when they find the wire he is wearing.

Duh!

:eyes:
