It's still unbelievable to me.

I was in Los Angeles at the time and knew his family. They're absolutely great people. I've reread some of his writings for the WSJ, his articles are absolutely outstanding.

If you have a chance, read the book of his writings put together by his colleagues at the WSJ, "The Writings of Daniel Pearl"?. ALso, read his widow's book "A Mighty Heart". Talk about courage!

... (in particular Mediterraneans) and I would also include Asians, Hispanics, South Americans, Indians, Blacks, etc.

One might even say brownish.

I'm half Italian, 1/4 Irish and 1/4 Cherokee. Born and raised in the US.

My only point is that brown skin isn't synonymous with being Middle Eastern, nor is being pale.

Arabs usually have fairer skin than Pakistanis.

9. Good point. I was thinking the same thing.

Apparently a good many people here don't know that Muslims come in all skin colors. Some, I have heard it rumored, are not even Arabs!

The point noted was that people who live in such a sunny place have a tan on their hands from the sun - religion and culture aside.

The only way to avoid it is to wear gloves or stay inside all of the time.

Just a fact. Even if you drive your hands are in the sun. That makes them tan.
