BBV: help in Ohio by donating to the Electronic Frontier Foundation

Electronic Voting Machine Latest

Many of you are already aware of the dire situation we're in regarding the purchase of electronic voting machines for 31 Ohio counties. Right now, the only way to stop the purchase is to file a lawsuit to halt the purchase of these machines in time for the '04 election.

CASE (Citizens Alliance for Secure Elections) needs donations to cover legal fees. They've been working with the Electronic Frontier Founation(EFF), a non-profit, non-partisan organization based in California, to set up a fund for Ohio litigation on the electronic voting issue.

At the Democracy for America Meetup in Columbus this past Wednesday, many generous people made pledges for this effort. Please join them by donating whatever you can. (If you pledged at the Meetup please follow the directions below.) Then please pass this information on to your email lists. We need to raise more than $10,000 to make this happen. And we need to raise the money now. (It's tax deductible!)

You can pay two way:

1. Go to the EFF website www.eff.org and pay by credit card online.
IMPORTANT: Indicate in the "Notes" section that your donation is for "Ohio E-Voting Litigation."

2. Send a check payable to Electronic Fronter Foundation and mail it to:
Electronic Frontier Foundation
454 Shotwell St.
San Francisco, CA 94110
(415) 436-9333
IMPORTANT: Be sure to write on your check that your donation is for the "Ohio Voting Litigation"

EFF is a 501(c)(3) organization and donation to EFF are tax deductible, to the extent permissible by law.

Please do this today. Give $100 if you can, if not $20 and then tell some friends to do the same. We all are working hard to get Bush out of office. That's not gonig to happen if these machines are purchases are not stopped. It's that simple.

Thanks to everyone and spread the word.

2. Nor mine!
I am currently assembling the elections contact page for Ohio residents to express their opinions to their representatives. EFF is welcome to use it if they wish. :)

Where the hell were they when we needed them! :evilfrown:

3. If you had a bad experience with them before they got on board
If you had a bad experience with them before they got on board with verified-voting, then don't give, but now they are on board, and they're lawyers who have won important cases for electronic rights.

They have this action alert for emailing Senators for "The Voter Confidence Act:"
