Cheney's check-up
All the media reports are "things are fine" and "good news about his heart" is very mis-leading. He had an EKG and a (modified) stress test, and they tested his defibrillator to see if it had fired recently, it had not. That was the "good news". They make it sound like he is ready to run a marathon or something. The reason he has a defibrillator in the first place, is that his heart is like a big floppy stretched out piece of liver, after a bypass, 5 heart attacks, several stents and angioplasties, his heart is so damaged he is at high risk for fatal arrythmias, so they put the defibrillator in. They left out that part.

"The vice president was told the news was very good. The doctor informed him that the device neither detected nor treated any arrhythmia," Cheney spokesman Kevin Kellems said."

1. Saying the name Cheney and the word heart in the same sentence
gives me some kind of intellectual whiplash.

3. two things happened recently tho
1. A local official of some kind had a medical problem while Cheney was in town and was taken to a hospital suite that was prepared and waiting in case something happened to Cheney. It had secret service guards and a big screen TV. It was for Cheney.

2. A hospital in another area apparently had Cheney on site in the last couple of weeks. The newspaper got wind of it and some authorities confirmed obliquely that he had been at the hospital. Hospital spokespersons would only say there "was no record" of Cheney being there.

Something's going on with him. (I wish I had saved those stories, but didn't.)

6. He Looked Mean and Fit

as Edgar Bergan at the Pentagon the other day. But with these jokers you don't know what is fake but you know NOTHING is really REAL.
