I think these guys look like Ninjas. Maybe the Japanese are mad at us.

This group does not look like any group of Iraqis I have seen.

I have blown this picture up and can't quite figure out what the thing on the floor (on their right hand side) is. It appears to be something metal.

Compare this group to other groups that have taken hostages in Iraq. I have never seen a group all dressed alike before.

well fed, stocky, muscular, white guys.

none are wearing the arab headscarf (can't recall correct term).

some are wearing 'ski masks'

many things about the way those mens appearance just looks 'wrong'

the "vests" in this picture are green and only cover the mid/upper chest area (kevlar would cover the torso). These look like ammo belts.

..looking at Nick Berg like that.. he looks as though he knows what is coming next.. spooky.

I know that lots of people here on DU are upset with some questions being raised about these killers. I don't think there's any harm in asking questions.

My initial impression (being one that doesn't always go for conspiracy theories) is that something looks wierd about the photo. First.. why does Berg have on a prisoner jumpsuit? Or is there some significance to his wearing orange, a cultural thing? The guys look very stocky and they are standing like westerners. I know, I know, that lots of conjecture.. but the photo DOES look like westerners..

I'm totally confused on something.. why is everyone saying they are Al Quaida members in Iraq. I've read it over and over today... there has yet to be any proof of Al Quaida in Iraq so far.. the bombings and Fallujah attacks have all been found to be local Iraqi resistence. Is the identification of these people as Al Quaida meant to get the Americans whipped up into an Al Quaida frenzy again, to divert attention from the prison scandal?

And.. why in the hell is the horrific video made available publicly? That makes no sense.. if the Pentagon and White House are upset about flag draped coffins, why is the man's family any less deserving of privacy? It's sick.. it's utterly sick that the video is made available online. What kind of sick, deranged people have we become that can watch a live beheading? I can't.. I can't even think about it without becoming ill.. I will not be able to sleep tonight.. much like the night of 9/11... for some reason the graphic nature of this, and this photo is making me feel unsettled in the same way.

24. I believe the video was given to Al-Jazeera or one of the other

Arabic-language networks, and was then put on a website belonging to an Arabic group, perhaps anti-American, perhaps pro-Iraqi, perhaps pro-al-Qaeda.

I don't think the American media put this up. They don't even put up the unretouched photos of Iraqis being humiliated.

I also don't think the Berg family had much to say about it.

20. Voices don't match - CNN

From CNN

The Web site said the killing had been carried out by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of an Islamist terrorist group that has claimed responsibility for numerous attacks on coalition forces in Iraq.

The voice on the tape could not be verified as that of al-Zarqawi. CNN staffers familiar with al-Zarqawi's voice said the voice on the tape did not sound like him.
