Good people of DU dont worry about me please
I saw so many threads concerning my situation with Michael in Iraq and my husbands depression over it. Please be aware I do NOT need money , I will be fine. Sometimes I panic, and I apologize to everyone if I sounded like I was asking for help. Im not.
The help you have given by sending the whole unit packages is more then enough, and is gratefully appreciated. Michael is sending me more names of kids in his unit, and trying to get the names of all the kids in the unit which will be sent to all of you who are sending the unit packages.
It means everything in the world to me that we know they are all getting packages, and my husband appreciates it with all his heart, because he is getting slowly better and knows what packages he couldnt send during his depression, you all sent.
That means everything.
DONT think you have to help me, or worry about me. Dont worry about me. The help I get from you is
your friendship
your kindness
your research
your intelligence
and the most important thing is, take care of yourselves.
We are all going thru our own shit in this country.
So, I just wanted to let you know Im going to be fine, I will be fine, and no one has to worry and for petes sake no, you dont have to send me money or anything. Thanks for asking tho.
Ill be fine, I am smart, Ill work it out.
People are having it far worse then me!
I apologize if thats how I came across in the last thread I started. I just wanted to let you know why I was not posting, as I had so many things to do and didnt have time. I worded the thread poorly.
Im sorry.
Hugs to my friends on DU

1. It's nice to know that so many people can care about each other
I think DU is so much more than a political board.

5. I haven't responded to any of those threads
but have read for a time the growing anger and fear in your posts regarding your step-son, and have hoped there would be a happy ending.

I still hope. You obviously have many friends online, and probably experience the same in your day to day. I wish you luck, and hope you keep in your thoughts the thought that nothing remains the same. Everything changes. Also, your entire family will be so much stronger once the nightmare is over.

Your posts help to bring the emotion to what is happening on a more personal level, and I appreciate that. I realize it is the last place you would want to be, but your experiences provide an opportunity for others to, not only sympathize, but empathize with the situation in Iraq and how it affects so many.

I'll look forward to your next post.

6. Mari, you can talk to anyone of us, any time...
it looks like I've been here for a little time, but I've been here too long. My son is 22, and kind of aimless, going through JR. college whenever he feels like it. I've tried to tell him to get a plan, but he wants to live his life his own way. In my house.my husband wanted to send him off in the military before election 2000. Luckliy, I prevailed, but for what? When will these kids get what's going on?

Just don't feel bad posting, you are doing a lot of good.

I belong to a local Democratic womens group and also the county central steering committee, we are interested in starting an "adopt a unit" so that we can send snacks and so forth. We are trying to solicit some help from a major retailer to help us and we would like to make Michaels group the first one. Ideally we would like to see this idea take off. We want to do something that directly supports the troops that can not be construed as political, just "kind" and let them know we are thinking of them. Could you PM me and let me know if this ok and if so the mailing address and anything else we might need to know? We can go to the local guard unit for the information but we wanted to start it on a more personal level.

Thanks
Cindy

Nice to hear that you are coming along fine.

I wish the best for you and your family.

And I would like to help with a package. What kinds of things are they running short of?

14. PM me please

I started a thread this morning asking DU folks to help by sending packages, and got a fabulous response!

I'll give you the names I have, and when Mari gets more names we'll start on those folks as well!

12. Mari, you and your family are in my thoughts every day.
Please post the unit address once more for those of us who missed it. I've got several individuals that I send to in Iraq, but I'd like to be sure Michael's unit is included.

19. Get away from the house June 19 and come to FUNDAY
We'll get you lit (for free!!) and you can take all your pent-up frustrations out on Andy the Right Wing Republican (he already knows the party'll be infested with LIEberals -- what are a couple more?). We'll even hold him down if you want.
John
It is now 38 days, 15 hours and 33 minutes to FUNDAY. Get your reservations in NOW!!

21. Remember what Rush Limbaugh says--we all need an emotional release
So you just come back here and "panic" any time you need to, like the time you got that crank call from someone claiming they were the FBI. The worst that can happen is that you'll get an answer to your problem.
