There are lessons here. Much study has been done of the sexual abuse of children by Catholic priests. It has been found that there was a "culture" in the Church that enabled the behavior and that there was a conscious effort to cover the abuse up. It was also found that these perverted priests, who had enormous power, went after the most vulnerable and helpless.

Sounds familiar doesn't it. In the case of the Catholic Church, the damage has not been fully repaired by a longshot but, blame did go up the ranks in some cases and leaders resigned(Cardinal Law in Boston, for example). Maybe we can learn something from this.

it would appear the order of the day was coverup instead of investigating immediately and holding people accountable. People so worried about their reputations they lose their sense of humanity.
