LA Times editor slams FOX and other journalistic disgraces
Nice speech from John S. Carroll:

In a scathing critique of Fox News and some talk show hosts, such as Bill O'Reilly, Carroll said they were a "different breed of journalists" who misled their audience while claiming to inform them. He said they did not fit into the long legacy of journalists who got their facts right and respected and cared for their audiences.

Carroll cited a study released last year that showed Americans had three main
misconceptions about Iraq: That weapons of mass destruction had been found, a connection between al-Qaeda and Iraq had been demonstrated and that the world approved of U.S intervention in Iraq. He said 80 percent of people who primarily got their news from Fox believed at least one of the misconceptions. He said the figure was more than 57 percentage points higher than people who get their news from public news broadcasting.

"How in the world could Fox have left its listeners so deeply in the dark?" Carroll asked.

1. Fox doesn't leave it's listeners in the dark....
It pulls the wool over their eyes. It's the difference between a sin of omission and one of commission.

5. Does anyone else think Fox has been exposed as propaganda?
It seems to me like a very large portion of the population now sees Fox News for what it is: a Republican propaganda outlet, much like talk radio.

Three or four years ago, I don't remember hearing any jokes about the blatant bias from Fox. People I know just sort of lumped it in with CNN and other cable news outlets. These days, they seem to lump it in with Rush Limbaugh.

They've always been a Republican mouthpiece, of course, but I really think they let the cat out of the bag in selling the invasion of Iraq.

6. Sadly, no
I have the misfortune to live in a largely Republican neighborhood (let's just say I like the neighborhood much more than my neighbors for obvious reasons). Anyway, they all seem to be Fox Fans. They're devoted to O'Lielly, think Sean Insanity should be on the side of Rushmore, and that Bush sits on God's right-hand side.
