Fairly Unbalanced Freepers exposed
Edited on Sun May-09-04 08:26 AM by tinanator
In case you havent been shamed or humiliated enough by the pictures and reports this week, there is always the "patriotic" take on things-

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/search?m=all;o=time;s=torture

Even better is when they try to describe their own actions online, but cant quite tell the truth. How said to be forced to lie about it-

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1131796/posts

It was astonishing to stand across the street from the FIVE desperate hillbillies (seated, not able to stand for their beliefs I guess?), holding my BUSH LIED SOLDIERS DIED sign and for the duration of rush hour traffic hearing NOT ONE honk of support for the war and torture happy schmucks across the streets, holding signs that read "Honk for the USA!"
and others so poorly conceived no one can actually read or interpret them. As they stood there on their deathly quiet corner in opposition to the 30 plus people on our side holding our monthly vigil/protest, they surely were losing what might be left of their minds as we had continuous non-stop honks of support, thumbs up, waves and every kind of positive reaction imaginable, with about 3 incidents of unhappy reactionaries to the HUNDREDS of well wishers. I was there from the time the Freeks showed until the very end of our scheduled vigil. Only at the very end did I hear the first and ONLY honk from across the intersection. It was said this came from a motorist who was on our side, but lets give them the benefit of the slim possibility.
I can't help feeling sorry for them. Not just because of their mental failings, but I am so accustomed to rooting for the underdog I simply dont know how to act when we become the champions of public opinion.
Sorry Rimjob, you cant fool anyone, anytime, when there are eyewitnesses to your insanity.
Also note they waited until we left to take their pictures, wouldnt do to show such a large crowd of sane people in the background, would it?

1. Don't you just love that logic...
That somehow wanting to end a war or vote for a Democrat means that you hate our troops? ...And for that matter God?
When did these assholes adopt our flag as their private banner? Maybe it's time for war protesters to start using the flag as a rallying symbol to our cause, too.

3. that reminds me
we had bigger flags. Two or more nice ones, not to mention the Peace Flag. They had a number of very small novelty flags (Made in Korea) and the one larger flag Rimjob uses to sweep the sidewalk.

4. Therein lies the problem...
We think too much.

You see, logic should have no place in blind patriotism. If you start making people think critically, then they'll just start realizing that the stale lines coming out of their mouths make absolutely no sense. We can't expect American citizens to be able to handle that kind of cognitive dissonance, now can we?

God Bless America!
Support Our Troops!
America is the best democracy in the world!
We can't let the terrorists win!

6. When we went out on March 20th this year
Edited on Sun May-09-04 08:36 AM by hippywife
there were about 150 of us on four corners of one of the busiest intersections in Tulsa. One guy showed up to counterprotest. He stayed in his black SUV the whole time on the side of which his own homemade sign hung:

"Christ Hating Pedophiles Organzied This Peace Rally"

I can't even begin to understand the mental gymnastics it took to come up with this sign. :eyes:

10. "Peace" Rallys ?
Oh boy ...did they finally figure out our "real" agenda ?
"End the war so we can get back to bible burning and downloading kiddie porn"
The only consolation here is the anger he felt when the paint came off his truck when he peeled that duct tape off.

15. It makes sense in literal terms
Edited on Sun May-09-04 09:25 AM by nolabels
Not that is my religion, but they say the body is Christ, which is everybody, the sign says he hates the people who did it (A sense he hates the actions they did). I think the sign maker got confused at the Christ hates peace rallies though

On Edit, I just can't get over the irony or trying to find the correct tense in english language

16. One other small possibility.
I don't suppose he left out the commas and meant:

Christ, hating pedophiles, organized this peace rally.

Like maybe your rally was Christ's idea?

8. Flags at war protests
This is Goddess40's mom. She and I and two veterans protest every Friday afternoon in front of our court house. Sometimes others join us. I always carry a big American flag. As Howard Dean would always say at some point in his speeches, "This is our flag, too." We get many more positive responses than negatives.

9. Flags
We have several veterans that come out and protest with us. One of them always brings a huge flag and also the POW-MIA flag to post on the corner.

11. Yes!
Symbols are very important. The republicans are clearly upset that in terms of military strength, we have Kerry (war hero) vs their bush (man in the Power Ranger suit). They "attack" Kerry on the metals so long as we remained on the defensive; once it was put in terms of Kerry vs bush, they backed off really fast.
The flag is a powerful symbol. We need to claim it for our side. We need to expand it's meaning. And when bush tries to wrap himself in it, we need to tighten it on him.

13. Faith and logic are not the same thing.
Faith tells the right wing nuts that Bush talks to God and he will do all that is right. Logic tells us that things are not right so lets make them better and we can do it. How can we get it to run together? All I can say is I have faith that most of these people will start thinking. OK?????

14. Not logical
you can go blue in the face with whackjobs and those who simply refuse to acknowledge the reality. They live in the land of farfetched plausibility, and MILLIONS die while they steadfastly resist truth, facts, logic and reason. Im afraid the solution requires more than faith, and direct actions that disregard the insistent claims of the faithful.

18. I Had One Pull Up In The Drive-In Movie Last Night
In a Ford Expedition and so close to me that I couldn't have opened the door to save my life.

They decided to move after my fiance and I observed loudly that they couldn't travel further than 3 miles to the dollar.
