I think I am intolerant.
I have a real problem with right-wing loons. They just irritate me. Especially when they keep throwing 9/11 and WMD's and terra back in our face. It also irritates me when the bastardize God and Christianity. They think they know everything and they are arrogant and hypocritical.

I need help. Should I try to overcome this intolerance? Someone help me.

1. No, intolerance of ignorance and jingoism is nothing to be ashamed of.
Besides, you aren't going to convert anyone.

4. I agree.
I was kind of joking. One thing is that we cannot tolerate the intolerant. If there is one thing we need to be intolerant of it is them.

6. Reminds me of the Tom Lehrer line......
"I believe that if a person can't communicate, the very least he can do is to shut up." :)

We're finally just mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. It took a lot of abuse to get us to this point, but we're solidly here now.

3. I recently scored big
My sister is a rampant Bush supporter, tho I can tell that support is starting to fray. We debated the Patriot Act recently. I made the point, "We don't just have to trust Bush ... we have to trust everyone who comes after. Let me put it to you in two words: 'President Hillary'."
She literally shuddered and got real quiet. And then she, a lawyer, said "I think I better read that law".

I told her I thought she should.

Study jiu jitsu, or better akido. Join with your opponent's energy and redirect it. In this manner, we may deprogram our fellows.

10. Toleration doesn't mean agreement.
You don't have to agree with their view, nor validate it, nor even "respect" it as equally reasonable, valid, informed, rational, etc.

But you don't have to hate them. Personally, I feel sorrow instead of hatred and I'd rather bring them into the fold than beat them in a dark ally. I think having that kind of attitude rather than letting your inner Archie Bunker (haha love Janine) run amok is far more worthwhile.
