Remember the Dade County Recount and how it was sabotaged by Tom DeLay's Repuke goons? That drove a stake into Gore's attempt to get the votes counted which were chadded away from him.

The intimidated election offcials just folded their tents by a 2-1 vote as I recall. And they were DEMS.This was the most flagrant rape of democracy, next to the SCOTUS decision to crown Bush. Where was the outrage?

Why didn't Reno and BigDog take over and send troops down to Miami to ensure that the votes would be recounted? That really did it. Gore was toast after that.

We can blame the media for the Gore bashing, we can blame Gore for not being tougher, we can blame O'Connor and Kennedy on SCOTUS for siding with the three Nazis, we can blame Jeb Bush and Jim Baker and the rest of the BFEE for committing treason...but where the hell was our government when we needed them?

Thanks, Janet.
Thanks, Bill.
For nothing.

1. Bill no longer had control of the troops and he knew it,...
...and Reno had no authority to do anything.

It was a coup, remember?

2. I don't buy it. They were derelict in their duty.
TIA

3. the direct fault lies with the FLORIDA supreme court
they found for gore in bush v. gore. bush appealed to the supreme court. scalia stayed the recounts and the scotus ruled for bush, scalia writing the most obvious pack of lies and illogic ever.

the fact of the matter is that the supreme court overstepped its powers in hearing that case. the constitution clearly gives the power to chose electors to the states. the constitution clearly gives the power to resolve disputes over electors to the house (in the case of the president) and the senate (in the case of the vice-president).

the florida supreme court should have recognized this and declared, "our decision stands, as the scotus has no authority to reverse the state ruling in this matter."

of course, the house would have made bush president anyway, but that's another story. in any event, the vaneer of legitimacy would have been stripped away.

4. umm, i'd prefer to keep the army out of our elections
that tends to be the policy of dictators when elections don't go their way.
HOWEVER, I definitely blame the BFEE for stealing that one.

I thank Bill for a lot.
